Gary was my cousin, born the same year as me.
He certainly marched to the beat of drums the rest of us boys never even heard.
Gary knew all kinds of sophisticated things at an early age. I'll never forget the time he told us dunderheads what claret was, for example.
My two brothers, Glynn & Richard --and I, were empty headed youngsters who thought football and hockey were really important.
Gary, on the other hand, already knew about history and great art all around the world -- and he had an eye for outstanding costumes.
May he live on in the clouds forever, happily cutting costumes for eternity.

From the first day I met Gary I was intrigued by him. To learn about all he had accomplished in life and his strong will to maintain his quality of life left me amazed. I loved his strong passion for everything pretty, his appreciation for attention to the tiniest of details, his great love he had for his cats and the people that were closest to him, hearing stories about he and his beloved wife Yvonne, and of course his witty, sometimes misunderstood, humour. He always managed to make me giggle. Rest in peace Gary. I will miss you.

Gary was so appreciative of treats particularly once he was no longer mobile.
I have a collection of his adjectives describing some, including:
lemonissimo (he loved lemony things); bliss-in-a-bowl; ambrosius; sublime, or
should I say sublemon-y?
I will miss his wit.

No one could have fought harder to maintain his quality of life ... Gary so enjoyed his dream home at Windflower Cottage and loved his research and creations right up to when the curtain closed. We'll miss his outrageous humour, boundless creativity, relentlessness/persistence, and incredible stories and experiences. But little pulled his heart strings as much as a good kitty story, so we'll be sure to share many in his memory. He was the luckiest person we have known, lived a charmed life, worked tremendously hard, and mastered his art forms. As he believed in reincarnation, we'll all meet him again. Until then, my friend ... xxx
