Obituary of Donald Andrews Armstrong

Armstrong, Donald Andrews, 103 of Granville Beach passed away October 9, 2018 in the Annapolis Royal Nursing Home. Born in Granville Beach he was a son of the late Hugh and Nina (Andrews) Armstrong. Donald was a Dairy Farmer and he was a Past President of the Annapolis Federation of Agriculture, charter member of the Habitation Baptist Church and was the church treasurer for many years. He was a founding member of the Port Royal Dairy. In his retirement years he spent many hours carving farm animals and equipment. He will be dearly missed but his legacy lives on.

He is survived by daughters: Kathryn (Carl) Denuke of Granville Beach, Shirley (David) Corkum of Quispamsis, NB, Ellen (Manoel) deSouza of Brazil; grandchildren: Jonathan (Dianne) DeNuke , Peter (Elizabeth) Denuke, Elizabeth (Grant) Fawcett, Cheryl (David) VanReenen, Mark (Caitlin) Corkum, Kathryn (Josh) Britten, Sarah (Ryan) Bearss, Beth (Branden) McKay, Stephanie (Christoph) Ziaser, Eva deSouza, John deSouza, Victoriana deSouza; 17 great grandchildren; sister: Dorothy (Robert) Slauenwhite of Newmarket, ON, sister-in-law Peggy Armstrong of Granville Beach, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Myrna, sister: Elizabeth Chisholm, brothers: Wilfred and David.

Visitation will be held Monday October 15, 2018 from 12:00 noon until service time at 2:00 p.m. both in the Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Annapolis Royal with Pastor Tom Wallace officiating. A reception will follow and interment will be in Stoney Beach Cemetery, Granville Beach. Donations in Donald’s memory may be sent to the Activity Fund at the Annapolis Royal Nursing Home, Heart & Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or to a charity of one’s choice.
