Obituary of Ernest Alan Marshall
Supt. (Ret’d) Ernest Alan (Al) Marshall RCMP– 88, of Granville Centre, passed away June 4, 2018 in Soldiers Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born in Hamilton, Ontario, on December 24, 1929, he was the son of the late Ernest and Jessie Marshall of Hamilton, Ontario.
Ernest graduated from Westdale High School in Hamilton and at the age of 18 years, joined the RCMP, in which he had a distinguished career with for 35 years. He served in many posts; the one he achieved his greatest adventure was his 3 years in the Eastern Arctic, from 1952-1955. He retired and settled on Marshall’s Landing in Granville Centre. Al was survived by his wife, the former Isabelle Riley; son, Brian; daughter, Susan (Peter) Dingle. He was an uncle to David (Marcia) Covill and children; Cousins Sandy Ryan, Barry Ryan and Donald Campbell. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his beloved daughter, Brenda Marshall; sister, Jean Covill. The family would like to express their thanks to the VON, as well as the nurses and staff of the 3rd floor transitional care unit at Soldiers Memorial Hospital, for all of their compassionate care, it was greatly appreciated.
Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of the Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Annapolis Royal. A graveside service will take place at a later date in the Wadeville Cemetery, Granville Centre. Donation in Al’s memory may be sent to the NS RCMP Veterans Association.
