Obituary of Janetta Naomi Dexter

Dexter, Janetta Naomi, passed away May 2, 2017 at the age of 96  in Mountain Lea Lodge Bridgetown. Born in Scarsdale, Lun. Co. she was a daughter of the late Parker and Jennie (Hirtle) Hawkesworth. She graduated from King’s County Academy and Provincial Normal College, Truro. In 1941 she came to the North Mountain, and served there in various Schools for ten years. In 1946 , she married William E. Dexter , a veteran who had returned from service in Europe in 1945. In 1947, they bought the farm in Hampton where they lived for over 66 years.
Janetta was predeceased by her husband , their only daughter Irene( Ernest) Sabean, as well as all the siblings in her birth family. After her retirement from teaching, she did research of family Histories, and was fond of knitting and reading, weaving and natural dyeing. Surviving are her sons: Boyd Dexter of Hampton and Cecil (Carol) Dexter of Great Village, Col. Co. ; four grandchildren and five great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday May 6, 2017 in the Hampton Cemetery with Rev. Dr. Randy Legassie officiating. No flowers by request.
