To the Sanford Family:
Borden was a 'welcome' visitor to our home. And whenever he and my dad, Herman, would get together there would be laughter. At the firehall, where they both worked, there would be many a joke played on someone.
Borden's good humour, sincerity and friendship will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.
My sincere condolences

Dear Sanford Family. I am Hazel's ex-daughter-in -law and have spent many happy times with your dad. He was such a wonderful man and became such a huge part of the Davis family. He could give the best hugs ever. I will miss attending the Remembrance Day Service at Maple Grove High School in Hebron . Hazel and I went with him many times and the last one we attended Borden did a speech. I was very proud of him. I am so sorry for your loss and I will miss him.

Borden Sanford - & Bampy as I remember him, will be a sorely missed and very much treasured man. My recollections come from a 12 year old girl, as I was in Canada 1987. An amazing year of my life, filled with special memories of some exceptionally special people - largely those dear families linked with Borden, & the Sanfords & Lefurgery's.
I have vivid memories of watching Borden tapping the maple trees, churning butter & making ice cream... just a few of those special times I was blessed to share with him & his loved ones.
This will be an exceptionally hard day for you all to farewell him - & I wish to send you all my love, hugs & best wishes in the celebration of a very special man's life.
Best wishes to you all, & may he rest in peace.
Love Karen Keily (new Earl), & family. xx

Dearest Marcia, Jane and Robbie, Norman, Carolyn
....and all your families,
It is with our deepest love, respect and admiration, that we share with you in remembering the wonderful life of dear Borden...and what a life!...lived long and full....a wonderful example for us all.
We remember a gracious, gentle, generous spirited man...with a great love of life and his enlarging family.
Borden was always smiling, warm-hearted, engaging and interested in everyone, his quiet wisdom in all things was incredible.
We have so many memories of special times shared with Borden and Freda...and indeed with you and all your families...during our wonderful year spent amongst you in Nova Scotia in 1987.....and with Borden and yourselves during subsequent catch-up visits during 2003 and 2007...we feel so fortunate.
Simon, Karen and Ben made many memories with Borden....they remember well the family gatherings, out at 'the block' with Borden, rides on his 4wheeler, pressing apples for cider, tapping trees and stoking fires as they helped to make maple syrup....still 'the best' they've ever tasted! Great shared times and cultural experiences for three 'Aussie kids'.
So many wonderful memories, and gratitude.
How fortunate we are to have had this great man's friendship touch our lives.
We will be with you in spirit on Saturday as you farewell Borden, and celebrate his incredible life. Take care of one another.
Much love and many hugs to you all.
Jenny and Eric EARL, Australia.

Borden flew up to heaven to sing Happy Birthday to Marg Wright! He lived a fine, long life, loved by everyone in the community. Jack especially enjoyed talking to him about some of the history of the back-country. They had a lot in common! Jack considered him one of his heroes. Borden will be sorely missed by many.
All the best to the family.

We had the privilege of meeting Mr. Sanford for the first time just before he turned 95 years old. He graciously joined us for tea at our home and we were quite impressed with his interest and vitality. After he said his good-byes he drove off to another engagement no doubt - a man on the go. We extend our sincere condolences to his family who live on through his shining example.

I will always remember growing up in Clementsvale, wishing Borden Sanford was my Dad so I could drive a toy car with a real gasoline engine!! (Norman, you were the luck boy!)
I remember Borden's parents and especially his motther's kindness to our family when my little sister died in 1960.
I believe his father may have worked on an addition to our home so we could have indoor plumbing!
So sorry for your loss, Marcia and Norman! My sincere condolances to the entire Sanford family!
