Obituary of Mary-Lee Chaddock

Surrounded by the warmth and love of her family and close friends, Mary-Lee Chaddock passed away September 3rd, 2016. Those who were blessed to have her in their lives never doubted this world was a better place, a more loving and caring place, because Mary-Lee was present. She spent her life caring for others as a mother, teacher, mentor, volunteer, community leader and a compassionate friend. Mary-Lee never stopped giving of herself and her time, volunteering as beloved counsellor and cook for the children of Camp Brunswick, tutoring GED students, raising money for countless charities, mentoring those dealing with and raising public awareness of mental health issues, just to name a few. On May 7, 2013 she was presented the Inspiring Lives Award “in celebration of your achievements, in raising awareness of mental health and reducing stigma in our community” by the Canadian Mental Health Foundation. The daughter of the late Edward and Clara Chaddock, Mary-Lee grew up in Halifax and held a BA in Psychology, B.ED in Special Education from Acadia University. She was a long time teacher with the Annapolis District School Board and later the Annapolis Valley Regional School Board as well as an active member and leader in her NSTU local until her retirement. She leaves behind the center of her world, her son Nicholas Amoroso (Matthew), Ontario; her sisters Sandra Chaddock, Dartmouth and Gail Chaddock-Costello (George), British Columbia; nieces Julianna and Kelly Ruth and her nephew Roger; her dear friend Andrea and many other close family and friends. Visitation will be held at Kaulbauch Family Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Annapolis Royal from 4PM to 7PM on Friday, September 9th. Funeral service will be held at St George & St Andrew United Church on Sunday, September 11th at 2PM with Rev Gordon Delaney officiating, reception to follow.
