My deepest sympathies to the Potter Family. Jesus replied, "You do not realise now what I am doing, but later you will understand." (John 13:7) I knew Grant in recreation. I was in Yarmouth & New Minas. My Wife & I met Grant's Family while walking on Blomidon Beach when they vacationed. They enjoyed themselves with the children. Grant was a devoted husband & family man. Grant & I worked together on VRCDA Bursary. He was professional, organized making informed decision with facts. Grant won a New Minas Golf Pullover at VRCDA Curling and wore it proudly to events & meetings. Grant & I worked on Economics Comm 2009 Rec NS Conference. He brought in World Pond Hockey Organizers, who gave Grant a world pond hockey jersey. Grant was estatic and we were all happy for him. Grant conducted Outdoor Rink Session in New Minas. Grant made sure everything was planned to a tee for success. Grant called looking for tickets to Acadia hockey for family. Because it was Grant I was on my way to Acadia to secure tickets. Grant was always calm, cool & collective and showed on the ice at the annual RNS Games. Grant played on James Bayer Golf Team. He enjoyed it. We did not have the best skills, but Grant kept the team positive & upbeat for 18 holes. While attending VRCDA having lunch with our collegues, Grant said grace before his meal. He was spiritual with strong faith. The world has lost a good person.

It is with great sadness that I learned of the passing of Grant. Grant and I became friends in 1985 at Acadia. Throughout the years we maintained our friendship - despite the geographical distance between us. I always looked forward to receiving an email from Grant and seeing him in Nova Scotia. I will always remember Grant for his kindness and his loving heart. He was truly a very special person that I will deeply miss. I will keep him and his family in my prayers.

I knew Grant many, many years ago. In fact it's been more than 20 years since we last saw one another. I heard he had married and later had children...and I was very, very happy for him. I knew Grant well enough to know he would be wonderful husband and father for he had always been a great son, brother, friend and everyday human being. I admired his devotion to God...he was an inspiration. I respected how he was always true to himself and set an example for others. He was honest, pure...and, quite simply, one of the good guys. I thought about Grant from time to time over the years, and, as I said, was so happy he had found true happiness in his life. To his wife, children, parents, siblings and family I extend my deepest sympathies. I know that your journey from this point on cannot be made painfree, but please know your sadness is shared by more people than you know because Grant touched the lives of many by simply being himself.

Hello Gina: You don't know me but I used to be a Recreation Director in Windsor many years ago. I met Grant many times and I found him to be a great guy. Soft spoken, thoughtful, eager to help. My condolences of course. . . there is not much I can say to a family that loses a husband & father like that. Life, as we all know, is NOT fair but all a good person can do is try and work on to make their little part of the world a better place. Grant would know that that is what you will do. My heartfelt condolences at your loss.I will remember him a long time. Jim Archibald Sept. 20, 2010

My heart was broken when I heard the news of Grant’s passing. I send my deepest condolences to the Potter family. I played a lot of sports with Grant growing up. He was an excellent athlete as well as an irreplaceable organizer and personality in the community. I take solace knowing that Grant is in a much better place now. Grant I will always think of you and miss you my friend.
