Obituary of Stanley Felker

Felker, Stanley Gordon (Chief Petty Officer 1st Class RCN, CF) (Ret'd). Age 75 passed away on April 19, 2013 at the Digby General Hospital. Born May 9, 1937 in Listowel, Ontario, he was the son of the late Mary Elizabeth Felker (Willfong) of Listowel. He joined the Royal Canadian Navy in January 1956 where he served for 32 years. He was presented with the Order of Military Merit at Rideau Hall in Ottawa in 1979. During his naval career he served in HMCS Saguenay (3 times), Iroquois, Restigouche, Quappelle, Assinboine, Terre Nova, Ottawa, Huron and Margaree. He also served in Cornwallis, Stadacona, Shelburne, Argentia Nfld.(US Naval Station), ADAC, and Canadian Forces Fleet School, Halifax. He was predeceased by his sister Marjorie of Forest, Ont. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years Martha (Marty) Felker (Bungay) of Cornwallis, NS, his brother Percy Felker of Elmira, Ont., his sons: Stephen of Cornwall, PEI and Jay of Slave Lake, Alberta, four grandkids: Stephen, Matthew, Tasha and Tessa, four great grandkids Authin, Lucas, Jordan and Chloe all of Prince Edward Island. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Stan was an incredible and loving man- always thinking of others before himself. After their retirement Stan and Marty did extensive travelling in their 5th wheel and truck for ten years, with their home base in Mission, Texas before settling in their home on the former base, HMCS (CFB) Cornwallis. Stan participated golf, bowling, darts and was interested in most other sporting activities. He also did numerous volunteer activities through his travels and in the Cornwallis community. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of the Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Annapolis Royal. A Celebration of Stan's life will be held at the Cornwallis Park Community Center on April 25, 2013 from 11am to 1 pm.
