My deepest condolences to Kimberly, Kellie and all the family on your loss. This is a beautiful obituary for your Mom… short and sweet just like she was. I have known your Mom for 10 years and we have shared so many great times together from line dancing, guitar, working together at Hillsdale House, playing crib, camping, meals, singing, laughing, long chats, taste testing lots of her delicious meals and baked goods, and more.
Wanda certainly loved all animals and would never refuse the chance to look after other people’s fur babies. I am going to miss her so much and it is going to take me a long time to get used to her not being just across the driveway from me and letting me know when my garage door is open. She sure loved to laugh and have a good time and I’m so thankful she was able to do that right up until the very end. There sure has been a bright light go out in our little town and she will be greatly missed by all who knew her. RIP my dear Friend.

The sudden passing of Wanda has deeply saddened us. With an adventurous spirit, she radiated kindness in her brief period with Paul and myself, leaving a memorable imprint on our hearts. Entrusted with spending time with our cherished beasties and amidst their antics, her unique affinity for animals shone through - even the wary Miss Teasel found solace in her company. Her pure and loving heart was transparent to all living things. Though missed greatly, we find comfort knowing she finds peace now.

Wanda was a wonderful friend who was always up for a visit and shenanigans. She was Rusty and Osito’s “Auntie Wanda” and loved the doggies as much as they loved her. Our fondest memories of Wanda were of her walking by the house, she always looked for us and waved. Wanda was small in physical stature but her character was as big as her heels were high. “You have to have the right shoes!” We will miss her terribly. She was one in 8 billion. Gone way too soon. Condolences, Kris and Dale.

My sincere condolences to all of Wanda’s family. Wanda was so much fun to have around, her smile always lit up the room, and her many facial expressions and jokes could not help but make you laugh. Many an evening spent with Wanda, I would go home with very sore sides from laughing. We spent many evenings together trying to learn how to play guitar, and even though neither of us ever made good guitarist, we sure made a lot of memories, especially when Wanda decided to write “a new song” for either Carol or me. Many a night either Carol or I would be answering the phone in the middle of the night to hear a new line Wanda had thought up for the song. I sure will miss her, I will miss her stories, her laugh, her smile, her energy, her generosity and most of all her key lime pie! Especially the one that did not set up so good. (There is a song about that to, lol). R.I.P. Wanda

Wanda will be missed. She surely was a kind and gentle soul if not a little bit naughty. And she made the absolute best key lime pie ever. She was hard to hug being so short but it was always worth it. Rest easy my dear friend

Dear Kellie and Kimberly,
We wanted your family to have all of the photos we used in our special video tribute to your sweet and beautiful mom. We could only upload 10 photos at a time, so these are the final ones. We put the video on both Facbook and Youtube so it could be easily accessed by everyone who would like to see it.
Wanda touched so many people in our community with her big heart, huge personality and giant smile. People are leaving lovely messages on our Explorer Guide page on Facebook. We hope your family will read them and draw strength and comfort from the outpouring of love.
Wanda certainly lived up to her middle name of "JOY".
God Bless You,
Alan & Durline Melanson

Our thoughts and prayers are with Kimberly, Kellie, Lea, Laura, Nico, Shane, Hunter, Luis and Analia during this sad and difficult time. She loved you all dearly.
Our Trans World Dance and Annapolis Region Line Dance Club families are heartbroken and grieving the loss of our very dear, sweet friend, Wanda. We hope our loving video tribute to beautiful Wanda on Facebook and YouTube will give you comfort in knowing how beloved she was in our community.
I have taught dance most of my life in the USA and Canada, and I am very thankful to have had Wanda as a student and a friend. Not too many students through the years have wanted to dance any more or been more proud to wear their Trans World Dance shirt.
I first met Wanda when we did a show at Upper Clements Theme Park in 2010. After the show, Alan and I went for an ice cream cone and homemade chocolate chip cookie. Wanda served us with her legendary huge smile and asked about our shirts. We told her about our Line Dance Club, and she said she had always wanted to dance. She started classes in September of that year and danced up until 5 days before her death in the filming of Trans World Dance Company for Firefly Digital Media's “No Ordinary Life” TV Series on Eastlink TV. Her favourite dance was Cotton-Eyed Joe.
Although very petite in stature, her heart was larger than life. Only about 3 weeks ago, Wanda showed up on our doorstep and surprised us with some of her delicious homemade soup and tasty brown bread. She was also very active in Port Royal Legion Branch 21/Annapolis Royal Community Center and was everyone’s favourite little Christmas Elf. All who knew Wanda loved her and were truly blessed by her friendship. Her bubbly personality and bright smile lit up the room when she entered. She was so tiny, like a beautiful little doll, and always danced in the same spot that we lovingly called her box -- our little music box dancer.
Over these 14 years, our “Trans World Dance Family” have shared life’s ups and downs. We’ve laughed and cried together, and I can’t imagine my classes without her. Wanda was a genuine, caring friend who will be greatly missed. I'm, indeed, "Thankful" for the memories. Cherish every second. Life is short. REST IN PEACE, beautiful WANDA CHOQUETTE. You certainly lived up to your middle name and spread true "JOY" everywhere you went!
Much Love from Durline Melanson & our Trans World Dance family.
