Myrtle Jean Selig
October 28, 1930 – November 19, 2023
Myrtle Selig of Deep Brook, Nova Scotia, passed away peacefully at the Annapolis Royal Nursing Home. She was born in Bear River in 1930 to parents Earl and Edna (Coombs) McCormick. She received her education at Oakdene School, Bear River.
Myrtle was a member of the Bear River Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and served on several boards. She was president and then secretary of the Women’s Missionary Society. She wrote several plays that were performed by church members, complied a history of the church for its 130th Anniversary and a pamphlet for the Goat Island Church in Upper Clements. She also authored books Seagulls Go To Church Too and Meet Mrs. Church Mouse. She loved doing crossword puzzles.
Myrtle is survived by son, Earl and daughter Valerie Gillespie both of Deep Brook; sister, Audrey McMahon, Belleville, ON; five grandchildren, Morgan Dickie, Calgary, AB, Matthew, Sherbrooke, PQ, Aaron, Stellarton, NS, Amber Gillespie, Halifax, NS, Jenny Gillespie, Nelson, BC; two great grandchildren, Alyson, Ella. She was predeceased by her husband, Russell; sisters, Marie (Carl) Darres, Lynn (Otis) Gregory; brother, Lionel.
She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. We love you Mom.

A memorial service will be held 2pm Tuesday December 12, 2023, in the Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Annapolis Royal. Interment will follow in the Mount Hope Cemetery, Bear River.
