Ragged Robin appeared like a miracle in Port Royal, NS. The Nursery was simply beautiful and so well organized. I clicked with Brian right away as he educated me in all things 'plants'. He came to our 12 acres at Victoria Beach and we walked and talked and planned. Cue more drop-in visits and more plants. Part of Brian lives on at VB and jn our fond memories. A wonderful person. A hard worker. A new friend. Brian, wherever you are, I know you are surrounded by beautiful plants and smiling happily as always. We miss you. John&Wilma

Brian was a great friend! I appreciate all he taught me about plants when we worked together in Carman. He was the most knowledgeable person I knew!! No matter how many questions I asked he always knew the answer. It was fortunate chance that our paths crosses again after we both moved to Nova Scotia! Going to the farmers market to get a few things turned into going the market spending hrs with Brian. He’d let me help customers and fluff the displays, taste test all the herbs and get him a treat. It became less and less about the plants, and more about the great company - I truly loved spending time with him! Once you cracked through that quiet exterior was the greatest friend! He was so funny and candid! His love of plants, food, dogs, quality and his family was so clear! I always loved joking with and not always knowing if he was serious or joking back… but then I’d see that twinkle in his eye and know!! A small smile would crack and I couldn’t help but grin. I will miss him him. The plants in my garden from him will be treasured and always a reminder.
Shortly after I heard the news, I was walking in the woods with my dog and came across a clearing of Ragged Robin. It was so beautiful!!
Thank You Brian for being a friend.
Andrea I am sorry beyond measure for your loss!

Very sad to hear that Brian passed away. My deepest condolences to his extended family.
Brian and I were very close in the late 70's, when we attended Junior High school together in Calgary (at St. Stephen's on Elbow Drive). I have fond memories of playing what we called "Pepsi Challenge" basketball (similar to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WtBC0YW0L4E). Brian also introduced me to an Intellivision baseball video game. Nothing like what is available now, mind you.
And we often played an Avalon Hill NFL board game. At the time, his favorite food was definitely pizza.
