Bryce and family. So sorry to hear of Sylvia’s passing. We met in grade six at the school in Avonport. Then we went on to Horton. Such wonderful memories we had. Her laugh, smile, bagpipes, kilts and her friendship. Time passes and we all take different paths in life but we will remember our friendships. May she Rest In Peace . Greg & Claudia (Peach) Coldwell

My sincerest condolences to Bryce and family. I have such fond memories of summers with Bryce, Sylvia, Bobbi Lynn and the twins. I was saddened when I heard of Sylvia’s passing but it also brought back happy memories of Christmas in July, countless riding lessons at the camps, Sylvia broadcasting her lessons with a microphone at one point, going to a drive-in movie and both falling asleep and lots of laughs. I sincerely wish everyone the best during these difficult times.

I will always remember my time spent at Grand Meadows Stables. Sylvia was the heart of the place. Lessons were incredible and without her I would have never become much of a rider. Her wisdom and lessons I have passed on to the younger generations that I have had the privilege to help learn to ride. I oftern share stories of my time with Sylvia and Bryce. I never worked so hard or had more fun than when I was there. Sylvia was always available for good long talks. Life lessons and shared love of horses, family, and more. RIP Sylvia. My Deepest Sympathy to all the family.

Dear Bryce, Bobbi Lynn and families, Rose David, and I were sad to hear that Sylvia has died. She was a marvellously dynamic person, fantastic cook, and had such a wonderful comforting way with Rose and the other children. I shall always remember how slowly, carefully and enthusiastically she upwrapped and commented on each child gift to her, making that child feel so happy and special. It is a memory that will always stay with me. Best, Mary, David, and Rose Kyd

Dear Sylvia, I have so many beautiful memories of the time I spent at Grand Meadows. My favourite time was spent painting the arena and stable. Up on the scaffolding and chatting away. Bryce couldn't do heights so we took it on. I remember our wonderful potlucks at the stable. Our trips to Halifax or just Wolfville. I will miss you.❤❤❤

Dear Bryce & family: Death leaves a memory no one can heal; love leaves a memory no one can steal. So sorry to read of Sylvia's passing. Like Perry, Lawrence & Carollee growing up in Grand Pre and going to that little schoolhouse up on the hill was so long ago. When we were growing up, every once in a while, you'd hear Sylvia practicing her bagpipes down the hill and up on the other hill you'd hear Douggie Morse practicing his drum cadences. Back then life was so carefree for all of us. Today I hardly recognize Grand Pre from those days when we were all running back & forth to each other's house to play but whenever I'd meet up with Sylvia, she was always that laughing/talkative gal she was when we were kids. My regards to you all. Sonya

Darling Sylvia, I will never forget you. So many memories, so many wonderful times. I think my fondest memory is the time we spent on the scaffolding while painting the stables. Bryce didn't like heights so we took on the task. We had so many chats during that time. It took awhile but we got it done. I ended up with Achilles tendon and spent some time on crutches but wouldn't trade a minute of that time with you.. I also remember fondly all of the potluck dinners in that cozy room over the stable. You loved Christmas and the barn was decorated and festive. It was a special place always. My heart hurts knowing you are gone, but I know we will meet again. You always called me at Christmas, I will miss your voice this year but my memories of our friendship will always be with me.

My memories of Sylvia are from when we were just little girls. Our families were great friends so I learned all about cows and kittens from Sylvia when we played in the barn at Grand Pre. The Trenholm family came to Truro every August for the Nova Scotia Provincial Exhibition and stayed with us at our house. My sister and I looked forward to spending this time with Sylvia and we tended to hang around the barn where the cows were staying, helping to keep them clean before show time. We had limited budgets to spend on the midway, so spent lots of time figuring out which rides to go on and which treats to buy.
My greatest sympathy in your loss of this wonderful sweet person to Bryce, and the Milne family as well as her sister, Diana.

My heart was saddened when I read Christy's posting that my dearest childhood friend has died last week. I knew Sylvia long before she became deeply involved with horses. The photo I found dates back to 1953 when "honorary" Uncle Bruce and Aunt Lois Trenholm, Dianna and Sylvia joined us in our backyard for a weiner roast. The photo shows Bruce tending the fire, Lois sitting in the long flowing grey skirt with her back to the camera and Sylvia, the cute little blondie walking back to check on her father. She and I visited back and forth throughout our childhood and teenage years, with my visits to Grand Pre during Easter holidays or the summer and Sylvia staying with us in Truro during the Provincial Exhibition. Too many precious memories from so long ago!

Sincere condolences to the family. Sylvia was the tape that kept us all together back in my App days. Show forms, registration papers, outfits— oh, the outfits. I still have mine.
A no BS, get in there and get it done, loving, kind, feed you kinda of woman; she was a horse mom. She was more than good to me. I have always been grateful for the lessons she taught me. Much love to Bryce, BL, and the boys.

I was saddened to hear of Mrs. Milne's passing. I remember seemly endless days playing with the boys as a kid (After their chores were done!). Looking back, we were so fortunate to have the freedom to mess around and explore, with the whole neighborhood as our stomping grounds. I'm thankful to both Mr. and Mrs. Milne for the trust that we'd (mostly) stay out of trouble, or we never would have been able make the memories we did.

Sylvia was an amazingly capable woman. She ran the summer camps my children attended with such kindness, creativity and firmness that I still marvel at how she did it. The kids would always come home asking if I could cook or bake things like she did! She was a kind and very decent woman who was a terrific role model for young girls and women. I am so sorry for your loss and so grateful for the Milne family‘s role in the life of my family. Paula Taylor(Kirkpatrick)
