Shari’s smile was contagious and could brighten up a room. Her kind and caring nature touched so many lives in so many ways including my own. She was the first person to greet and reach out to me during my short time at MRHS. I will never forget the kindness and friendship she showed to both my daughter and I over the years. The two of them had a keen eye and like for good fashion and didn’t mind showing it off to one another each day. I will always appreciate all the support she gave to my daughter and how she made her feel so welcome when she first started MRHS. She knew she could always go to Shari for anything and I as a mom will always be grateful knowing she had found such a wonderful friend in her and that she would always watch over her. Shari, you will always hold a very dear and special place in our hearts. You will be missed by so many…Until we see your beautiful smile again,

I was so saddened to read of Shari's passing. Shari was such a kind, positive and genuine person. She always made you feel that you were important by the way that she listened so intently when in conversation with her. I met Shari years ago when she volunteered to share knowledge of her Mi"kmaw culture in my classroom. We quickly became friends and I would always enjoy a chat with her whenever our paths crossed. I am so sad to hear of Shari's passing. My sincere condolences to her family. Our loss is heaven's gain - she was truly an angel. I first met her when she was getting ready for maternity leave from the Annapolis District Planning Commission as she trained me for her job. She was super sweet, helpful and a joy to be with. We had a lasting friendship from then on. This was always Shari's MO - as soon as someone met her, she was in the heart forever. RIP Shari. I am honored to have known you.

I met Shari in late February 1986 when I arrived in Annapolis Royal from Edmonton to become town planner and Director of the Annapolis District Planning Commission. Shari was situated behind an IBM Selectric at the top of the stairs in the tiny ADPC office in the Adams-Ritchie House on St. George Street. After a five day mid-winter drive to work, I was greeted with her huge smile, and made to feel right at home. As she explained the ADPC layout, I unpacked an early model personal computer and put it on what was to be my desk, Looking warily at it, and then me, Shari said "I'm supposed to type your letters, aren't I?" I assured her that even though I was used to typing and printing my own stuff, that we were going to be a very busy office and she'd have plenty to do. She smiled. We kept the Selectric for another few years.
Shari was integral to that two-person operation. She handled the administration of the Board, and the planning and development communications of the Towns of Annapolis Royal, Bridgetown, and Middleton with ease. She was deeply appreciated by the Councillors and Board members and the public that we served.
Outside of her work, Shari loved her family and bingo. Probably equally. She convinced me once to go to bingo at the smoke-filled fire-hall to learn the game. She was all over my single card with her stamp, admonishing me to be quicker, while taking care of several cards of her own. She was a bingo fanatic. All in.
Just before becoming much more involved raising her family, Shari discovered her Mi'Kmaq heritage and family roots. She was deeply moved. It added rich layers to her life. I was taken by the intensity and feeling she expressed about it. I learned over time, that Shari always had that deep well of sensitivity. It permeated her life. It defined her relationships.

I wish to send my deepest condolences to Shari's family for your loss. Shari was an amazing person.
I was lucky to be on the NCNS board with Shari for many years. Shari and myself had many conversations about raising sons because I have a few also. When in Ottawa we would walk Star St and shop the little novelty stores and look for Native stuff.
Her smile was amazing and could make anyone smile back. Shari was a great friend and a great board I will miss her dearly.
