Obituary of Sarah Leota Hudson

Please share a memory of Sarah to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Sarah Leota (Butler) Hudson was a loving wife, caring mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Sarah, age 68, fought a 30 plus year battle with multiple sclerosis and while she had a courageous fight, it came to an end on Sunday, July 10th when Sarah passed away peacefully at Annapolis Community Health Centre.

Sarah lived and raised a family in Port Wade, Nova Scotia and was known best for her love for her family and friends. Sarah was predeceased by her parents Perry and Leah Butler, her two children: Lee Hudson and Terry Milne, along with her brother, Gordon Butler and her brother-in-law Neil Hudson.

Sarah is survived by her faithful and caring husband, Larry Hudson, who have been married for 48 years. Sarah is also survived by her three grandchildren: Leanne Hudson, Aiden Milne, and Remington Milne. Sarah is survived by her many sisters and brothers including Perry Jr. (Joyce) Butler, Charlie (Dorothy) Butler, Bill (Donna Lee) Butler, and Donna (Gordon) Spurr, along with her brother-in-law Dale (Bonnie) Hudson and her sister-in-law Judy Hudson. Sarah is survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Sarah graduated from Annapolis West Education Centre and continued on to attend Agriculture College, graduating in 1974. She worked at the local fish plant and worked as a teaching assistant for many years. She was an avid farmer, practiced her green thumb by caring for her large assortment of geraniums and petunias, and spent many hours reading. Sarah, in her earlier years, was well known for her cowboy cookies that she would prepare each time she expected company, along with her thirst for knowledge. Sarah enjoyed spending time learning about history, local and global, and always monitored the weather patterns.

Sarah was a fighter. She was challenged with several battles, and despite it all, met them with grace and faith. She and her husband Larry created a life together that was built on love, friendship, grace, perseverance, dedication, and loyalty. Without Larry's dependability and dedication, Sarah and he would not have had the wonderful life they shared.

During Sarah's later years of her battle with multiple sclerosis and the many side effects, health providers and care givers were welcomed into their home to assist in care and provided Sarah with nothing but the best care, treatment, and best of all, the memories that she made with all her nurses and friends. Sarah was lucky to have the support of many friends and family so she could live in her home for as long as possible. Jackie Meuse is one of these people that turned to be one of Sarah and Larry’s best friends whom they could rely on through good times and bad. Our family would like to thank Larry and Sarah's neighbours, friends, and family members for their ongoing support and dedication throughout Sarah's life.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made on behalf of Sarah and her family to the VON Annapolis Valley Branch. There will be a memorial service held at Kaulbach Family Funeral Home on Saturday, July 16th at 2pm. Burial will occur at a later date. The Family requests that everyone attending the funeral wear a mask. Online condolences for the family may be sent to
