Obituary of John Colville

John Harrower Colville - 65, of Bridgetown, Annapolis County. A gifted graphic designer, writer, teacher and musician, died suddenly of heart failure on 22 February, 2012, at his home. The son of Alex and Rhoda Colville, he was born in Wolfville, N.S., and grew up in Sackville, N.B., later attending the University of New Brunswick where he graduated with honours in English literature. After further study at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design, he went on to a distinguished career as design director at publications including the Dartmouth Free Press, the Montreal Gazette and the magazines Maclean's and Harrowsmith. He later became a popular teacher of graphic design at the Annapolis Valley campus of Nova Scotia Community College, Middleton. John leaves his daughter, Claire; two brothers, Graham and Charles; a sister, Ann; his parents; four nieces and three nephews; his beloved dog Halle. A service of remembrance will be held 3:30 pm Saturday, March 3, 2012, in the Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Bridgetown. Following the service burial will take place in Riverside Cemetery, Bridgetown.
