I worked with John for ten years. He brought a real joie de vivre to everything he did. In the year he retired John gave me a small blue robins egg he had found in an abandoned nest on one of his daily walks with his dog. He remembered that "Robin" was my middle name and he kindly brought the egg to school and gave it to me. That was the type of person he was. I consider myself lucky to have known him and worked with him. I would like to add that whenever I chat with former students they always remember him fondly.

Shocked ... I just learned of John's passing about 30 minutes ago, over a year after the event. I am so sorry for his family and friends. John and I spend hours hanging around and laughing during my 2 1/2 years teaching at the Annapolis Campus. John had a world class mind and wit. I have a picture of John and myself here on my desk in Shelburne taken during our time together. How often I have thought of dropping him a line or taking a ride to the "valley" to catch up with him ... I quess, John, you leave me with that: you shouldn't postpone life. What a loss.

The links that I have provided below may be able to help you. You can take up corsues that will enable you to work in an addiction treatment center. I think it's a great idea. It would help you get over your loss and cope with your grief, as well as do something for your cousin. I'm sorry that this had happened to him. I really hope you get to work at an addiction treatment center soon. I'm sure you'll be able to help a lot of people.

Please accept my most heartfelt condolences. John was a good friend and a good man. We were email/Facebook buds; we were supposed to see John Prine together but the tix were too expensive LOL. I will miss the MP3's and videos he would send and his wonderful sense of humour.

I wish to express my deepest sympathies to the Colville Family. I am utterly shocked to learn of John's passing. I have great memories of John during my time working at NSCC, Middleton. John was a wonderful conversationist. He was always one who spoke freely and was most articulate in voicing his opinions. I always found John's stories most interesting especially those during his time working for the Montreal Gazette and MacLean's. John liked cars and he cherished his Mini Cooper. John often spoke highly of his father Mr. Alex Colville and from that I now know where John developed his interest in cars. John, you will be missed!
