As brothers Dick and I had some good times over the years, firstly as youngsters evacuated to Somerset from London during the war, going around the Frome countryside on our scooters and bikes, later back in London we watched the V2 rockets soaring overhead and much later still me and my family visiting your's in Toronto and your cottage on the lake.
Dick certainly enjoyed showing Joan and I the birds and animals in Corkscrew Swamp where he volunteered when he and Barbara were in Naples, Florida.
I know that Dick also loved his later years in Nova Scotia walking, fishing and lunching with Julie and Robbie.
Love and condolences,
John

Dear Julie ... sending you love for the lovely tribute and tender loving care you provided to your Dad since he moved to Nova Scotia. He lived a full and interesting life to his end. May you and all of his extended family and friends find ease knowing he lived well, even with dementia and during a pandemic. He was loved well and will be fondly remembered.
Om Shanti

I enjoyed time with Mr. Palmer over 40 years. Mr. was the honourific while dating Julie in University, and it stuck as her friend ever since. Always charming and interested in Julie's friend's lives, and even politics, and a gracious host to 15 or so of us one time at their cottage.
When Julie mentioned him fishing one last time, it reminded me of when he took this rookie out on his fancy new flat decked fishing boat. He showed me how and where to cast, and soon, SNAP, SNAP I had TWO little Rock Bass on the SAME group of lures ! He had not seen that, let alone I. He cooked them up despite the illegal size to encourage me.
Alas, I haven't fished since, but Thanks Dick, glad you got the chance to fish recently. More importantly, some meaningful and loving times with Julie and Robbie close these last 18 months.

Sending love to you and Robbie, Julie. I felt honored to sit with him over the Labor Day weekend and hold his hand as he was preparing to leave. I lost my dad at age 14 so it is particularly poignant to remember how he showed up at the Zen Shiatsu student clinic in 2002 to avail himself of my treatment. I knew he was doing it because I was a good friend of Julie. It was not something he would normally do. He would gleefully remark after the pummeling he was given, that he was going home to have a stiff drink. I am smiling at that memory.
