Doug - I was so shocked and saddened to learn of Mary’s illness and passing. She was a lovely person to all who had the pleasure of knowing her and I enjoyed our few years as friends on staff at AWEC. She was a professional teacher and co worker in every way! I still have a lovely doily she made for me when I left the school to raise my family. Cherish your memories and may they help you through this time of loss. I always recall her interest in how and what I had been doing whenever we would meet. God be with you !

Oh my heart breaks. I have many fond memories of Mrs Cameron. She was my history teacher in Grade 10 and it is because of her I took an interest in ancient Egyptians history. She made learning fun and exciting. She always had these novels in the classroom. Historical novels (ancient Egyptian ones) which she would always let me take home and read. She recommended the ones she liked best. I looked up to her she was a positive influence on my life. Always kind and encouraging she was a beautiful person and I will always remember her. I’m sending my condolences and love to the family. Mrs Cameron was an amazing lady and has left an imprint on everyone that knew her.

Dear Mr Cameron, I’m so saddened to learn of Mrs Cameron’s passing. She was a favorite teacher of mine in high school. I have thought of her so fondly over the years and was always happy to hear when my dad (may he Rest In Peace) had her and yourself as dental patients. He told me Mrs Cameron always asked about myself and my sister Shelley. So thoughtful. My condolences to you and her family and friends. With love from Angela (Bowering) Thompson

I, like so many others, truly enjoyed Mrs. Cameron's Grade 10 history class. I loved the fact that she encouraged all of us to write romance and mystery into the lives of the Tudors and made history exciting. I will say too, that I always looked into the Sears catalog to see the carriage court shirt dresses that she wore and tried to guess which ones she would buy for the upcoming school year. Mrs. Cameron rates at the top of my favorite teachers and guaranteed, the students who were lucky enough to have her for a teacher are all the better for it! Thank you Mrs. Cameron! Joanne

Doug, so sorry to hear of Mary’s passing. She was a wonderful person, a wonderful friend. Always enjoyed getting together with you and Mary as we sought ways to enhance the lives of our fellow colleagues. Mary had a heart of gold and she will always be fondly remembered by me. How like Mary, in her final days, to make sure you knew how to cook so that you could look after yourself when she was gone. I know you will be left with so many wonderful memories as will we all. Take care and best wishes.

I was saddened to hear of Mrs Cameron's passing. She was my teacher years ago and had an inspiring capacity to make history come alive, and always managed to keep us interested. She was also firm but kind to all of us in her class. She encouraged me to follow my dream of becoming a veterinarian, and, like me, loved her cats. Rest in peace Mrs Cameron, and thanks for many years of teaching us.

Rest in peace Mrs. Cameron. She was not only my history teacher but neighbour in Granville Centre. I saw her a couple years ago when she helped us look for one of our cats. She was a great cat lover. She also got me hooked on historical fiction. Sending sincere condolences to Mr. Cameron and all her family.

I consider it a privilege to have had Mrs Cameron as my AWEC history teacher in the late 70's. She taught with such enthusiasm and she opened the world up to us in that classroom. I recall her lectures about the French Revolution and I remembered her many years later when I toured Versailles. I loved her and appreciated all the encouragement she showered on me as her student. She was quick to praise and congratulate effort. She made a difference.
Rest in peace Mrs C. My sincerest sympathy to Mr Cameron and her family and friends.

So sad to read this, I was taught by Mary and Doug. She is the one person responsible for getting me to attend university, and I am not the only student she set on a better path. Hopefully she knew the good her life's work created. Condolences to Doug and her family

I am very sadden to learn of Mrs.Cameron’s passing. No one could explain history with the passion that Mrs. Cameron exhibited. She would immediately brighten and become animated when she talked about topics like Egyptian history. Her love of the past was infectious. I soaked up all her knowledge and one of the highlights in my life was visiting the Egyptian display at the MET in New York. I remember thinking how fun it would have been to experience that with her. I’ve always had a fondness for Mrs. C and I’m sad that I never told her how much her teaching meant to me. Sending my condolences to Mr. Cameron and her extended family.
