Grant, Kenneth Reginald – 88, Bridgetown passed away October 16, 2020 at Soldiers Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born May 4, 1932, in Clarence at the family home. He was a son of the late Charles and Effie (Rhynard) Grant. Kenny is survived by his wife of 63 years, June (Foster); children, Diane of Halifax; Charles (Mary); Wendy; Donna (Rodney) and Sarah Dumphy, all of Bridgetown; grandchildren, Aaron, Charlie and Sabrina Gillis; sister, Joyce Wiles of Calgary; a hoard of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by son-in-law, Nick; sisters, Mary, Ruth, Doris, Idella, Gladys and Myrna; brothers, Eddie, Joe, George and Freeman. Kenny’s passion for oxen developed at a very young age on the small family farm. At the age of eight he started going to the Annapolis Valley Exhibition. He used horses for many years. In 1957, he began taking oxen; travelling to many exhibitions over the years. He was a member of the Maritime Ox Pulling Association; was on the Board of Directors and chaired the ox committee for many years at the Annapolis Valley Exhibitions until the time of his death. He enjoyed watching the ox and horse pulls. Kenny loved children. Dedicated his life to anything “Massey”. He had many jobs over the years; worked 17 years for the Department of Lands and Forest until his retirement at the age of 60. Donations made in memory of Kenny may be sent to the Lung Association of Nova Scotia or Annapolis Valley Exhibition. Due to the Covid-19 restrictions a celebration of Kenny’s life will be held at a later date. The family would like to thank everyone who helped at this difficult time.
