Condolences to all the family. Jim was one of those people I loved to run into. He always had a smile and a story. I'll always remember his energy and fantastic piano playing at Mountain Lea Lodge when our choir went to sing for Christmas. His bright spirit will be missed.

To the Family of Jim Bent:
I was both sad and not sad to hear the news of Jim’s passing. Sad because he was no longer with us, but glad that he had moved on to a happier place where, no doubt, he will find even greater opportunities to serve others. In any case, I am pretty sure, from my Mountain Lea visits, that he anticipated what was coming and was prepared for it.
Jim was almost exactly my age which, of course, makes his passing strike more deeply than that of someone several years older. Everyone’s passing is a reminder of our own mortality, but even more so that of a contemporary. Jim was in school with me, but I didn’t really get to know him until several years later when I saw him working at Ditmars and MacNeil’s. Later, after I retired and starting going to Holy Trinity where he was the organist/pianist, we renewed our acquaintance. I shall miss him as will everyone who knew him.
I have no doubt, of course, that life continues in the spiritual realm, for God will not suffer any of his children to fall out of his hands.
Sincerely,
Ben Leonard

As a schoolmate with Jim at BRHS, I remember Jim's artistic ability in that his design for the BRHS crest is the one still in use, I am sure. The BRHS students' council of 1955-56, under the leadership of president Alan Beattie, adopted the motto "No victory without a struggle (Non Sine Pulvere)," incorporating it into Jim's crest design. Jim and I were both members of that council.I was always envious of Jim in that he could play the piano by ear, which I cannot do.His happy sensibility will be long remembered at Mountain Lea Lodge and in the community.

That picture captures his essence well. So sad to hear of Jim's death.
Many years singing in the choir and the congregation at Holy Trinity Church in Middleton bring back fond memories.
I send sincere condolences to the family on behalf of the Gillis family of Middleton.
Jim went out of his way to rearrange other events so that he could be there to pump some life into the organ at Old Holy Trinity for the funerals of my Father, Mother and sister. That's what he was like.
RIP Jim you were a good friend

What a loss. Jim was such a kind and gentle man, and we will remember the twinkle in his eyes as he told a cute story or little joke. Mom fondly remembers their days at the Theme Park, when it first opened. And he was always very nice to her mother when they would visit him for a cup of tea. He will be missed, but never forgotten.

To the family...................I remember Jim and his beautiful music, it always left you feeling happy. A number of years ago when Barrie and I took the grandchildren to Upper Clements park we were walking around and heard music. Barrie said that sounds like Jim Bent playing so we went to see. Sure enough, there was Jim smiling and playing, and you could just tell he loved every minute of it. You definitely left your mark Jim. RIP. My sincere condolences to all.
