Please share a memory of Phillip to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Chute, Phillip Leroy "Sonny" Aug 1, 1943 to September 19, 2020, born in Phinny’s Cove Phillip Leroy Chute, known by family and friends as “Sonny," passed away at his home in Young’s Cove, NS, Saturday, September 19, 2020, at the age of 77 years. Every person who Sonny came in contact with was left with a lasting impression. A man that spent many years as a fisherman before he retired at the age of 55, he was a craftsman, musician, and intellect with a quick wit. He had a place in his heart for all animals and treated his pets like children. He was the first to be invited to parties and had an abundance of friends. Although he didn’t like to venture too far from home, he had worldly knowledge and could speak on any topic. There wasn’t anything he couldn’t build or fix with his crafty hands. He was happiest in his chair with his guitar or banjo, playing bluegrass and the occasional fiddle tune with amazing precision, or woodworking and strategizing his next metal project while chatting with his family and friends in the safe place of his garage. A man of few words, he was admired by many and brought humor to nearly every conversation. Sonny leaves you with his favorite saying, “Remember when you leave this earth, you can take with you nothing that you received, only what you have given.” Survived by his children, James and Tammy (Don Murphy), 5 grandchildren, Hayden and Mikayla Chute, Cole, Connor and Callen Murphy, brothers Sheldon (Doreen) and Danny (Kathy), sisters Susan (Lindsey Stark) and Twila Calnek (Gord Young), former spouse Judy (Hudson), long-time companion Christina Rowlings-Longmire, many nieces and nephews, and his best friend Boostie (cat). Sonny will be forever remembered by his family and many friends. Sonny was predeceased by his Mother and Father, Pearl (Fash) and Leroy “aka Buddy” Chute, and his dear friend Pugsy (dog). Cremation has taken place under the compassionate care of Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Bridgetown. Due to current Covid-19 restrictions, there will be no service or funeral. A private family gathering will take place at a later date when his ashes will be interred alongside his parents. It is also hoped that we can have a celebration of Sonny’s life at a later date when it is easier for family and friends to all get together. No flowers by request. Donations in Sonny’s memory may be sent to your local animal shelter. Online condolences may be made at www.kaulbachfamilyfuneralhome.com
