I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Rev Allen. Our condolences go out to John and the entire Allen family. From my early days in Truro to later visits to Bridgetown, Rev Allen always spoke from the pulpit with such conviction and dedication with sermons that had great meaning and substance. Even after his retirement, when he was into his mid-nineties, his compassion to assist our family with a graveside service in Bridgetown (with June acting as his chauffeur) for our mother was so greatly appreciated. Our thoughts are with you. Dan & Deb Piggott

Visits with Dr and Mrs Allen were a yearly thing. I always felt such a beautiful energy in his presence - and whenever I think about him. My wedding ceremony at our family camp in Milford in 1997 was all the more special for having him perform the service. Knowing him and Mrs. Allen is such a blessing. Enjoy this memory, January 16, 2011.
Most heartfelt condolences for his passing.

Cairine and I join a multitude of others in paying tribute to a great man, and our dear friend, Rev. Dr. George Allen. We treasure many special memories of him, beginning with the announcement of my birth in the North Sydney Baptist Church, when my father was the pastor there. It was September of 1934, and 21 year old George was in the congregation that Sunday morning. Many years later, the day after Cairine and I were married, we attended the Sunday morning service at First Baptist, his church in Truro at that time. We have continued to enjoy fellowship over the years, but especially since returning to Digby in 2001. Dr. Allen came to Digby Baptist many times to share in evening gospel services. How blessed we were by the depth and richness of his voice, and his powerful message of faith as he sang. He loved the Lord with all his heart, and that was abundantly evident in every aspect of his life. Dr. Allen will never cease to be a rich source of inspiration to both of us, and to all who knew him. He was greatly admired, and dearly loved.

I grew up in Clementsvale, and as a young girl, I attended the wedding of your parents. I kept track of them over the years as they ministered in the province and it was with great joy that my husband Lloyd and I welcomed them to Stevens Rd Dartmouth where we were members. We became great friends and missed them terribly when they moved on to Bridgetown. We visited them there whenever possible and then more frequently when George semi-retired in Clementsvale. George did the burial service for my husband Lloyd in Clementsvale in 2004. George was a kind, very sincere, compassionate, and dear friend, and an outstanding pastor.
My deepest sympathy

Dr. George was such a special person, always so welcoming to everyone.
At 104 , we remember him taking part in the Clementsport Legion Remembrance Day service as bright and strong voiced as any!
Also the Strawberry Suppers at the Clementsvale Baptist Church were always very popular. He was ever present in keeping the waiting customers seated in the sanctuary continually singing hymns for their supper!

Condolences to the whole family. My husband, a Lawrencetown Male Choir member, met him when the choir sang at Crosskill Court, and Dr. Rev. Allen always shared at least one song, and some past memories of his singing experiences, as well as stories about being in the ministry.
I was surprised at his memories about my family and close acquaintances he remembered from when he was the pastor at my home church, Calvary Baptist, in North Sydney.
It was wonderful how he continued church services and ministry even at Crosskill Court. He had an infectious love for the Lord, and he always warmed the hearts of all who met this genuine, loving Christian. For him, this scripture seems most appropriate: 2 Timothy 4: 7, 8.
Sincere sympathy and prayers for the entire family,

I alway will remember Dr Allen reciting the Christmas story from Luke, he could tell it with such passion. I remember one year I had to work and couldn’t come home for Christmas. Dr Allen recorded it with Dad’s tape recorder and Dad mailed it to me. We will miss him, he touched so many lives. He had a wonderful sense of humour. He was so supportive to our Clementsvale community. His spirit was strong. I remember the last time he was in Annapolis hospital he sang hymns with Susan and I. Then he told us a joke. Even then he never lost his sense of humour.

Thinking of you all at this time and remembering the many fond memories I have of your father. The times he brought mom raspberries he picked when he was in his 90's. Stopping at the Double D to pick up donuts before going for a visit. The wonderful funeral service he conducted for dad with so many personal details from dad's early life. I remember taking George out for lunch at the End of the Line Pub just before I moved back to Ontario. We had a young waitress and he wanted to know who she was and of course he knew her grandparents. Three years ago in November when I was east I attended the Remembrance Day service in Clementsvale and then I went to Bridgetown so that I could take in the service your father was doing at the home. He introduced me to the ladies and told them about dad's war service and about his childhood memories of the end of WWI. You were all so fortunate to have your father as long as you did and I believe for the most part healthy and of sound mind. Jackie Sanford

Our sincere and heartfelt condolences to all the family of the late Dr. George Allen. We were fortunate to have had him as our pastor, for a short period, when we first moved to Bridgetown. He was such a dynamic speaker, with a sense of humour and joy that simply bubbled from within. His kindness and love of singing were wonderful and his memory for names and his recall of events were remarkable. He always remembered our names, held our hand and with that sparkle in his eyes, would recite a verse of a favourite hymn or poem. Dr. Allen later became Pastor Emeritus of Bridgetown Baptist.
May God bless his family and all who loved him as they (his family) and we, his friends, grieve his loss.

When my husband, Bill, died and the doors to Mountain Lea Lodge closed shortly after, due to Covid, I lost my contact with Dr. Allen. Bill and I used to stop, almost daily, to chat with him and sing a song before continuing on our way. I loved the interaction, and I think Bill did to. At least he seemed to enjoy the songs. My connection to Dr. Allen goes back pretty far as my mother, Hilda FitzRandolph, taught Dr. Allen’s wife, June, and kept close contact with June’s family. I spent many happy days in the company of the Sandford family while I was growing up. So when Dr. Allen came along, I was introduced to this amazing man, amazing story teller, and wonderful human being. He will be missed by so many people. I am just glad that I had the opportunity to chat and sing with him during those last days I visited Mountain Lea. My sincere condolences to the family.
