What a dear, gentle man and total inspiration. So sorry for your loss. I attended years of Richard’s figure drawing group and thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere he seemed to create so effortlessly. Holding you in my thoughts x Becky Thompson

Richard's genius and talent were a bright light in the world. I met Richard while helping host a picture book art panel at MSVU. He was so humble and honest about his creative process. My heart goes out to Susan and family, and the whole arts community. Such a loss. I've made a donation in Richard's memory to Sable Island Institute. ~Terri Milton, Librarian

Richard was an important friend to the Choyce family from 1981 to 2000. His daughter Tansy was great friends with Sunyata, and the two girls did everything together for many years. Richard was always very kind and generous to our family. I am very sad that he passed over so young. (I was born in 1951 too!) He left a beautiful legacy of relationships, works of art, and community service. My deepest condolences to the whole family.

I'm very sad to hear of Richard's passing. We hadn't much stayed in touch in recent years but when our kids were growing up here in Lawrencetown, we shared many fine times discussing a wide range of topics and Richard was always insightful and intelligent with his observations of the world around us.
Richard always encouraged me with my own creative work and we had a strong sense comraderie. I remember him as a caring father of Tansy and Darielle and I appreciate the time we spent as two families with young kids preparing them for the world ahead.
His sketches were great and his artwork showed inspiration, caring and talent. I'm glad he was able to produce children's books and use his artistic skills to share that insight he had developed as a fine artist and an even finer human being.
Sincerely,
Lesley Choyce,
Lawrencetown Beach, Nova Scotia
