Obituary of Carroll "Chas" Richard Charlton

Carroll "Chas" Richard Charlton, 62, Bear River passed away peacefully, after a brief illness, surrounded by family at Annapolis Community Health Centre Sept. 19, 2019.

Born in Annapolis Royal, he was the oldest son of the late Charles and Shirley (Wamboldt) Charlton, Bear River.

He is survived by wife Cindy (McLellan) Charlton, sister Susan (Larry) Powell, Lawrencetown; brothers Michael (Heather) Charlton, Bear River, and Stephen Charlton, Edmonton, AB. He is also survived by stepdaughter Tammy (Bill) Davison; and granddaughter Sasha, and great-grandchildren Karson, and Braelynn; and nieces Darci and Hannah, and nephews Dylan and Avery.

He worked for W C Hall & Son's, and for many years with the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal from where he had recently retired.

‘Chas’ was a kind and considerate man known for helping others, lending a hand, and was always quick with a joke or kind remark. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and was a favourite uncle to his nieces and nephews. He was one of the good guys.

He was a longtime member of the Bear River Royal Canadian Legion Branch 022 where he was bar manager and volunteered in various other capacities over the years, and where he enjoyed playing darts. He coached girls’ softball for many years in Bear River. He also enjoyed camping and socializing with his RV family at Fundy Spray Campground.

No funeral by request. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion in Bear River Oct. 5 from 2 to 5 p.m.
