Dave and I will never forget the kindness of Chas; our first winter in Bear River took us a bit off guard in the fuel oil department, and on a very cold Christmas, we went to Chas and Cindy’s home, where they were just finishing up a humongous dinner, and once Chas learned of our situation, he loaded up his gas cans and rescued us. I do believe we were even offered plates of food!! Since then he has been a steady presence for us and so many others. Always always giving. He will be missed in countless ways, and our thoughts are with Cindy and all in Chas’ family.

I called him ‘Barnaby’ for a long long time because of a play he was in - I can’t have been more than 3 or 4 when I saw it. He was always so patient with me! Even as an adult, I couldn’t help but think ‘Barnaby’ when I saw him!
Sad news.
I always liked running into him these past few years after I moved back to NS. I think (hope?) I was less of a pest as an adult!
My sincere condolences to family and friends.
