Please share a memory of James to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
James Gerald Gaul - January 30, 1938-October 21, 2011. James passed away at the Valley Regional Hospital. An avid outdoorsman and craftsman, Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing and carpentry projects with his family and friends. Jim had an uncanny ability to befriend wild animals and over the years provided a home for "Big Bird" the Canada Goose, buddies Partridge, Rabbit and Deer. Jim served 10 years in the RCAF, farmed in New York and Texas and returned home to Nova Scotia to drive for Thompsons Transfer, Midland Transport and Nova Paving before retiring in 1995. In his retirement he enjoyed home life with wife Hilda Marie, spending time in the garden, picking berries and getting the winters wood in. Thursday night at the camp was one of his favorite nights to spend with friends. He was predeceased by father Gerald and brother Bill. He is survived by mother Ethelwyn; brothers David, Phillip and Peter; wife Marie; daughters Patty (grand daughter Ashley & great grandson Ayden, grandson James), Kimberley (grand daughter Chandler and grandson Joshua), Kristel (grandson Nicholas, grand daughters Rachel and Athena or "Annie" as she was called by her "Bumpy Jim"). Annie, his little grand daughter, was his pride and joy. She will miss and always remember riding with Bumpy on the 4 wheeler and reading Outdoor Life together. Jim will be sadly missed by all family and friends. We hope that you have gone fishing somewhere beautiful and we love you. Many thanks to Dr. Davidson and staff at the Valley Regional Hospital for their commitment and support. Graveside service to be held at the Fairview Cemetery, Lawrencetown, NS on October 23, 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Valley Regional Hospital Fund.
