Newton, Mary, 91, of Centrelea, Annapolis Co. passed away peacefully in her sleep October 14, 2011 in Soldiers Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born in Glasgow, Scotland she was a daughter of the late John and Jane ( Dunn) Docherty. Mary was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church and a member of the Womens Missionary Society. For 19 years she was a very committed volunteer canvasser for various charities and was awarded the Annapolis County Volunteer Award. She also received the Annapolis County Seniors Award Mary is survived by sons: Dan (Edna) of Mirimichi, NB, Michael (Arline) of Dartmouth, Peter (Charlene) of Centrelea, Rob of Lower Sackville, Tom (Caroline) of Centrelea; daughters: Cathy Ramsay of Brantford, ON, Joan (David) Allen of Annapolis Royal, Gladys at home, Edie Newton (Eugene Organ) of Conception Bay South, NL, 29 grandchildren ,28 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren She was predeceased by her husband Cecil, son Issac "Ian", baby sister Jean, brothers: James, John, great grandson Cody. Visitation will be held Saturday Oct. 15, 2011 from 2-4 p.m. and Sunday 7-9 p.m. with prayers being said at 7:00 p.m. in the Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Bridgetown Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday from St. Alphonsus Catholic Church , Bridgetown with Father John MacPherson officiating with cremation to follow. Private interment will be held at a later date. The family would like to express their enormous gratitude to the Dr.'s and nursing staff for the loving care they provided to Mary.
