Obituary of Basil Eugene Corkum

Corkum, Basil Eugene – Age 88, Waldec West, passed away peacefully February 1, 2019 in the Annapolis Community Health Centre with loving family by his side. Born in Kempt, Queens Co., he was the son of the late Percy and Annie Corkum. Basil was a farmer all his life and worked in the Christmas tree industry for 20 years. He had a lifetime passion for his many animals and oxen. 

Basil enjoyed spending time with his family, back yard campfires and attending local ox pulls.

He was a member of the Bear River East Baptist Church. Basil is survived by his wife of 32 years, Joan; step-sons, Derrick, Andy (Tina), Rennie; step-daughter, Norma (Dave); grandchildren, Drew (Leigh ann), Dawson (Lacey), Makayla (Alton), Lucas (Rea), Logan (Natasha); chosen grandchildren, Caleb (Kelly), Carrie (David), Kelly (Ryan) and Karen; seven great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Basil was predeceased by four siblings.

Funeral Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Annapolis Royal. A funeral service will be held 2pm on Monday February 4 in the Bear River East Baptist Church, with Rev. Fred Bigolow officiating.  Interment will take place in the Waldec West Cemetery. Donations in Basil’s memory can be made to the IWK Children’s Hospital, Palliative Care Unit at Annapolis Community Health Centre, or charity of choice.
