Obituary of Joan Anne Dunnington
Joan Anne Dunnington (Crabb) passed away peacefully surrounded by her family in her home on January 29th in Halifax, NS at the age of 83.Joan is survived by her husband of 63 years Harold Dunnington; children Elizabeth Deveau (Terry Deveau) Herring Cove, Catherine Jones (Doug Jones) Utopia, Ontario, Dorothy Dunnington (Paul Irving) Fall River, Joanne Dunnington (Robert McCleave) Hatchett Lake, Melissa Dunnington, Dartmouth and Richard Dunnington, Dartmouth; siblings Jack Crabb (Hamilton, Ontario) and Judy Moser (Hamilton, Ontario). She is predeceased by her children; Judith Dunnington, Russell Dunnington and Christina (Chrissy) Dunnington; great-granddaughter Gracie Joan Lord; biological father, John Crabb; forever parents, Grace and William Lampard; siblings, Violet Bevan, George Crabb and Betty Ker. She will be dearly missed by her 18 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren. Joan was born on October 24th, 1935 in Hamilton, Ontario. At 6 years of age Joan and 3 of her siblings entered The Loyal True Blue & Orange Home in Richmond Hill, Ontario where she lived and attended school for the next 7 years. At 13 years of age Joan’s life was forever changed when she went to live with Grace and William Lampard in Binbrook, Ontario. She spent the next 4 years in their loving care and they remained her devoted parents throughout her life. Joan’s life was dedicated to her family and she will be dearly missed by all who knew her. She met the love of her life Harold in Cornwallis NS in 1953. Two year later they were married and the remainder of her life was spent raising their 9 children. She has cared for and played a major role in caring for her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and countless foster children throughout the years. Throughout all this she still found time to volunteer with the Annapolis Royal Fire Department Ladies’ Auxiliary and enjoyed being an active member of various bowling, golf and dart leagues. Visitation is scheduled for Saturday, Feb.2nd from 6 to 8pm in Kaulbach Funeral Home in Annapolis Royal. Service is Sunday, February 3rd at 2pm at the same location. Reception will follow at Annapolis Royal Fire Hall. All are welcome to come celebrate and honour Joan’s incredible life.
