Obituary of Joseph John Everett

Please share a memory of Joseph to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Everett, Joseph John, 69, of Victoria Beach passed away suddenly at home on December 11, 2018. Born in Annapolis Royal, he was a son of the late Hiram and Goldie Everett. Joe is survived by his wife Fay (Hoyt), daughters: Erin (Brian) Demmings of Rothesay, NB, Alicia (Mark) Anderson of Timberlea; grandchildren: Audrey, Henry, Claire, and Norah; sisters: Bertha Titus and Ilda (Lawrence) Taylor both of Victoria Beach, Juanita (Otis) Sproule of Delaps Cove; sisters-in-law Dorothy Everett of Victoria Beach and Sandra Everett of Digby. He loved his large extended family with many cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers Wylie and Leigh, brother-in-law Bill Titus, and nephew Mark Taylor.

Joe loved his life as a dulse fisherman and was proud to live, work and raise his family in “The Beach.” He was a family man who showed his love to both family and friends with story-telling and humor. He also loved any excuse for family and friends to gather, but especially treasured his famous birthday barbecues, the Everett sibling restaurant tours, Thanksgiving feasts at the Pines with friends he considered family, and of course the Christmas holidays. His Christmas spirit was contagious.  He loved the joy of giving and the art of disguising presents. This Christmas will be bittersweet.  Since he was a boy, Joe was a huge New York Rangers fan and he claimed that they will win the Stanley Cup this year.  Joe was an avid and accomplished bowler having competed at both the provincial and national levels. He also excelled as a self-taught woodworker.

Joe was an involved and dedicated father who loved every stage of parenting his girls and was so proud of their every achievement. His most cherished role was that of “Grampy” to Audrey, Claire, Henry and Norah.  He treasured his time with each of them whether it was colouring, building towers, or playing dress-up. Joe recently celebrated his 40th wedding anniversary with Fay, the girl from Lequille, who ended up being the love of his life.

Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of the Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Annapolis Royal. Visitation will be held Sunday 2-4 p.m. at the Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Annapolis Royal. Funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Victoria Beach Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Randy Legassie officiating. Interment will be in the Garden of Peace Cemetery, Victoria Beach. Donations in Joe’s memory may be made to the Garden of Peace Cemetery, Victoria Beach care-of the Kaulbach Family Funeral Home (Annapolis Royal) or to a charity of one’s choice.  Family flowers only.
