Allister was a respected educator as an Instructor for Texas Instruments. He will be missed in the TI community of teachers worldwide.
I was fortunate to know Allister the last few years and he was a person that I relied heavily on to keep me apprised of the educational news in Nova Scotia. He was a great advocate for teaching with TI technology in education.
My thoughts and prayers are with his family, colleagues and friends.

I was very fortunate to work with Allister when he joined our Programs team at regional office. We all worked together diligently in our stalls in the “Corral” on the second floor. When Alister entered the room, we were sure to be greeted with that big smile and a twinkle in his eye. Allister was passionate about teaching math, technology and, most importantly, his students. He forged many friendships within the teaching community both locally and provincially and his presence will be missed. Condolences to his family and friends. Keep on smiling Allister...your legacy lives on in the many students and friends you touched.

I met Allister about 14 years when he was a participant in a series of workshops I conducted at Horton High School over the course of several years on the use of technology. I recall that I learned a great deal from him about teaching but the strongest memory I have about Allister was how he treated people. He was a gentle giant and he took an interest in everyone. I loved his sense of humour and his positive approach to life.
A life well lived - Allister will be missed by so many people.

Sincere condolences to all of Allister’s family. I first met Allister at NSTC when we were both in The Math program many years ago. I have seen him at several math and union events over the years. I recently worked with Allister again when he was taking courses at Acadia. Over that thirty plus years Allister never changed. The twinkle in his eye, his laughter and honest outlook remained constant. His huge ‘bigger than life’ personality will be missed. So very sorry for your loss and I will miss our conversations.

Allister was a great friend, union leader but most of all a teacher. We all learned from his wisdom. He had a wicked sense of humour and made many union meetings more bearable with that twinkle in his eye and the smoothing of the beard as he shared his thoughts with us. Allister was always there when you needed him and we shared a private joke I can’t post here. He will be missed. He was loved.L2y

His humour is something of which I can remember most as well as his caring manner for all of his students. He is one of the first teachers that helped me start to learn the skills I needed to pursue the passion I have to this day for technology. His perseverance in making sure I succeeded helped instill a work ethic that I carry with me to this day and his laugh is something I shall always remember.
I wish my heartfelt condolences to his family on their loss and want them to know that his legacy will be long remembered with fondness by me as well as my family.
