Obituary of Florence Louise Wolfe

Please share a memory of Florence to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Florence Louise Wolfe (Trenholm), died at her home in Lequille, Annapolis County on December 2, 2018. Born in Wolfville on March 22, 1934, the second of four daughters, to John and Evelyn (MacKinlay) Trenholm. Florence is survived by her daughters, Sharon Potter (Terry) and Shelly Wright (Blair) both of Princedale; grandchildren, Michelle, Marianne, Mitchell, Sam & Annie; great grandchildren, Chloe, William, Jocelyn & Molly; and her sisters Catherine McKnight and Frances Cameron. She was predeceased by her husband Lorenzo and her sister Jean Neder. Florence and her sisters grew up on a dairy farm in Grand Pre which prepared them all for a life of work. She graduated as a Registered Nurse from the VG in 1957 and worked for 10 years in Halifax, Kentville and Liverpool before purchasing the Rest Home in Annapolis Royal in 1966. With determination and the help of a lot of amazing people from the area, she built the rest home into the Annapolis Royal Nursing Home Ltd. After her retirement from the Nursing Home, she decided she would pursue her dream of opening a craft shop. She was accomplished in many forms of crafts and handiwork and spent the next 10 years happily running “A Gift of Time”, in Annapolis Royal and travelling in her off time. She spent 25 winters going to Florida and had many cherished friendships with people from all over North America. These last few years were spent designing and making cards with a great group of local ladies. There were few idle hours in Florence’ life. She enjoyed a term as President of the ARVFD Ladies Auxilliary, played bridge, bowled for many years and was a serious cribbage player as those who played with her will attest. Her sense of humour and good nature will always be remembered. A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00pm on Saturday, Dec 15, 2018 at St George & St Andrew United Church in Annapolis Royal. A reception will follow at the Annapolis Royal Nursing Home Ltd. Donations in memory may be made to the Annapolis Royal Nursing Home Ltd Activity Fund, St George & St Andrew United Church or a charity of your choice. The family of Florence wish to extend special thanks to EHS, the nurses and doctors of Digby General and Yarmouth Regional hospitals and especially Dr. Buchholz and the staff of ACHC for their much appreciated care.
