Obituary of Vivian Maxine Saunders
The family of Vivian Maxine Saunders,86, rejoice in her journey to her heavenly home on December 2, 2018. Born in Phinney Cove, Vivian was the eldest child & only daughter of the late Malcolm Healy & Minnie (nee Poole) Fash. Vivian's faith in Jesus Christ sealed her eternal home and gave strength in her earthly home. Her faith shaped her heart for people and her attitude for service within her church family and within the community. There was always a welcome around her kitchen table.
A long-time member of the Paradise-West Paradise Baptist Church, Vivian participated in Sunday School, Bible studies and WMS /ABW( Dominion Life Member). She served as a leader in CGIT, a Church Visitation Committee Member and Chair as well as a Deacon. Vivian was a faithful and loving wife in her care of her husband, a supportive partner in his West Paradise farm business and in his musical talent, hosting many “tunes” throughout the years. Vivian enjoyed a 20-year part-time career as a World Book sales representative and wrote a book about this in her late 70`s. She enjoyed the faith and comaderie reflected in the Gaither Gospel music DVDs and met many of the musicians on a Gaither Caribbean Cruise in 2012.
Survived by children Connie, Darlene [Bill], Anna, Keith [Susan] & John [Lynn], Brother Terry [Phyllis] and sisters-in-law Sandra Healy & Daisy Healy, grandchildren Nikki (Matt) , Joseph (Brittany), Karla (Rohit), Chantal (Chris), Abby, Tim (Nicki), Alanna, great-grandchildren Alex and Vivienne, several nieces & nephews who all knew she loved them and prayed for them daily by name. Predeceased by Charlie, her husband of over 57 years, brothers Fred & Oscar Healy, sisters-in-law Juanita Healy, Eunice Saunders, Frances Rice and brothers-in-law Glen Saunders & Frank Rice.
The family wishes to thank Dr. McLean for his care over the years and Dr. Merryweather for her expertise and treatments. The family feels indebted for the care provided by the staff in the Transitional Care and Mayflower units at Soldiers Memorial Hospital. The attention and care provided far exceeded our expectations, providing a compassionate and dignified end of life for our dear mother. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. in the West Paradise Community Hall and funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday Dec. 6,2018 in the Evergreen United Baptist Church, West Paradise with Rev. Eugene Foster officiating assisted by Rev, Quincy Collins. Interment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. A reception will follow in the West Paradise Community Hall. Donations in Vivian's memory can be made to the West Paradise Evergreen United Baptist Church Memorial Account, to the cemetery through the West Paradise Evergreen United Baptist Church Cemetery, or to the West Paradise Hall through the West Paradise Community Club.
