Obituary of John William Connell

Connell, John William “Willie’ 87 of Bridgetown passed away August 19, 2018 in Mountain Lea Lodge, Bridgetown with his family by his side. Born in Bridgetown he was a son of the late Ralph and Muriel (Taylor) Connell. Willie worked at Acadian Distilleries for many years; he also ran a hobby farm, loved to travel and enjoyed square dancing.

He is survived by his children: Elizabeth Ann Biggs of Wolfville, Elaine Groom of Bedford, Eileen (Hans Pontsioen) Grant of Enfield, Evelyn ( Gary) McGinis of Centreville, Elfreda (Derwin) Taylor of Berwick; Edison ( Barb Whelan) of Lower Sackville; sister: Jean (Charles) Tidd of Bridgetown;11 grandchildren: Amy Rose, Adam Biggs, Jonathan Biggs, Jennifer Whitaker, Emily Biggs, Evan Biggs, Shane McGinis, Keifer McGinis, Jenny McGinis, Shannon Taylor and Natasha Taylor and 11 great grandchildren: Cameron & Michael Rose, Zachary & Isabelle Whitaker, Mila and Isaac Biggs, Hannah Taylor, Braxton Taylor, Delaney Taylor, Benjamin and Thomas Biggs.

He was predeceased by his wife Geraldine sister Sophie Anne MacNeil; brothers: Fred and Edwin, grandchildren: Matthew and Brandon Taylor, son-in-law John Groom

Visitation will be held Thursday from 7-9 p.m. at the Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Bridgetown. Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday from St. James Anglican Church, Bridgetown with Rev. Joel Hardy officiating. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations in memory of Willie may be sent to Mountain Lea lodge Recreation Fund or to a charity of one’s choice.
