Melissa Dawn Girdwood – Balcom

September 14, 1975 – June 26, 2018

Family wishes to express our deepest gratitude and thanks to many family/friends who have dedicated spending time with us in the last few weeks since the tragic loss of our dearest daughter Melissa on June 26, 2018. She is survived by her mother and stepfather, Judi and Kevin Pyne; Father, Eric (Susan) Balcom; brother, Drew Balcom (Raelene Roach); the joy of her life, nephew, Sawyer Balcom; sister in-law, Kim LeBlanc; many aunts, uncles and cousins and her beloved cat, Theo. We wish to acknowledge and thank the many supportive friends she made in the body building community. We thank you for the beautiful memorial that was put together to celebrate Mel’s achievements and dedication to the sport. Thank you to Eastlink for giving her a job at a much needed time. She loved and thrived at it. A celebration of life gathering for family and close friends will be held at Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Bridgetown at 1pm on Saturday July 21, 2018.  In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Mel, may be sent to the Nova Scotia Mental Health Foundation or online at www.mentalhealthns.ca/memorial-donation.
