Age 81, passed away on July 5, 2018, at home following a brief battle with cancer.  Born in Port Lorne, on November 16, 1936, Fred was the son of the late Willard and the late Alice (Neaves) Sabean.  He is the last surviving member of his immediate family.  Fred had retired from twenty-five years in the Canadian Air Force where he experienced postings around the world, and fifteen years as a prison guard/counsellor at Kingston Penitentiary, Collins Bay Penitentiary, and Beaver Creak Institution.  He had also earned a Bachelor of Psychology from the University of Waterloo in 1994.  Fred had many talents and enjoyed singing and playing various instruments at musical jam sessions around Annapolis County; and had spent hours creating numerous paintings.   Fred is survived by his twin daughters, Sheryl (Brett) Hurrup, and Sharon, both of Kitchener, Ont.; son Chris (Lori) of Barrie, Ont.; son Jason of Toronto; step-daughter, Rosemary Banks; and step-son, Brian Rafuse, both of Youngs Cove, NS; a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren. Fred has been predeceased by his first wife of fifty years, Nancy (Nash); his second wife of nine years, Clara (Lewis/Rafuse); and sisters Beula Roy and Verna Latta.  Funeral Service will be held 2pm on Wednesday, July 11 at Parkers Cove Baptist Church, Rev. Dr. Roy Austin officiating.  Internment will be at Beechwood Cemetery in Ottawa, Ontario at a later date.  A heartfelt thank you to the VON nurses and home care support, Veteran Affairs, Dr. Gibson, Dr. Burgess, Palliative Care Nurse Janet Welton, Pastor Bob Elliott and Pastor Mark Elley.  Donations made in Fred’s memory can be sent to VON, the Canadian Cancer Society, or a charity of your choice.  On line condolences may be sent to www.kaulbachfamlyfuneralhome.com.
