Obituary of Paul Fenwick Jackson

Please share a memory of Paul to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Paul Fenwick Jackson, 93, of Middleton passed away peacefully at home on June 26, 2018. Born in Clarence on August 12, 1924 he was the only child of Myrtle (Robbins) Jackson and Fenwick Williams Jackson. His father died when Paul was only two years old so he was raised by his mother. They moved to Deep Brook in 1929 and Paul lived there during his school days. In 1941 he enrolled in Truro Normal College, being the youngest student in his class. After graduation he taught for 10 years, mostly in the Annapolis Valley. He married Geraldine Elsie Rockwell in 1950, one of his former students :-). Then became father of six children. At this time he also changed career paths becoming a meteorologist at both the Sydney and Halifax airports. He retired at age 52 and returned to his beloved Annapolis Valley. Paul was predeceased by his first wife Geraldine Elsie Rockwell and his second eldest daughter Nancy Anne Scothorn. He is survived by his wife Gerry (Geraldine) Frances Baltzer, daughter Debbie (Michael) Quigley, BC, son David (Grace) Jackson, Lower Sackville , daughters Carolyn (Fred) Parnell, Beaverbank, Sharon (Erica) Jackson, BC, Tracy (Michael) Parker, Centerlea; grandchildren Kevin, Shelley, Shannon, Ryan, Kelly, Stephanie, Jeffrey, Cory, Tyler and 17 great grandchildren. Paul will be remembered as a humble and honourable gentleman. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather. Paul has a deep abiding faith in his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ and served in his local church as long as he was able as a deacon and member of the men’s choir. Due to decreased mobility the last few years, church attendance waned, but did not diminish his faith. He had a Sunday ritual of Bible believing teachers he watched faithfully. He was a role model and true teacher all of his life. He had a passion for nature, gardening, cottage life, reading, canoeing, outdoor activities, boardgames, curling, tennis, stamp and coin collecting and was always up for a good game of crokinole. His kind, gentle spirit will never be forgotten. He will be missed by all who loved and knew him. Special thanks to Wendy from Careforce, Mahala for his food preparation and the paramedics that it attended to him so swiftly. The family would also like to extent a special thank you to John Thompson and Brian Young, faithful neighbors “watchmen”. As well as Carol and Linda Baltzer who provided special care and attention.  Visitation will be held Friday from 6-9 p.m. from the Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Bridgetown. Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday from the Middleton Baptist Church with Rev. Robin McCoombs officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Lawrencetown. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Middleton United Baptist Church or the Valley Community Learning Association. Family flowers only.
