Obituary of Ernest Anderson Rice
Rice, Ernest Anderson, April 22, 1924 – May 4, 2018
Aged 94, Ernest passed away peacefully at home. The son of the late Ralph and Annie (Anderson) Rice, he was born and died in Carleton Corner.
Ernest served in the Canadian Armed Forces (army) joining in 1942 during WW2, serving in Europe and Canada. During his service, he was posted to several bases across Canada and served as part of the UN peacekeeping force in Egypt. After retirement from the army, he moved home and worked at the Bridgetown post office for several years.
In 2012, he fulfilled his dream to establish Bloody Creek Vineyard on the family property. He loved to curl, golf and was a great fan of the Toronto Blue Jays and Maple Leafs. In later years he enjoyed working in the vineyard with his tractor, and meeting friends daily for coffee. Until his last days, he loved telling stories, and was a patient gentleman who delighted in his family.
Ernest is survived by his children Brian, Riverview, NB, Darlene Jackson, Centrelea, Daniel (Dorothy), Three Fathom Harbour, Gregory (Linda), Berwick, grandchildren Darrel (Lori), Jason (Kelli), Monica (Ross), Jo-Ann (Cory), Victoria, Mason and several great-grandchildren. He was predeceased in 2011 by his wife Eileen Myrna (Dexter).
The Royal Canadian Legion Branch #33 will hold their service Monday May 7,2018 at 6:30 p.m. and visitation will be held from7:00-9:00PM at the Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Bridgetown. Funeral service will be held at 2:00PM on Tuesday, May 8 at St. James Anglican church with Rev. Joel Hardy officiating. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Bridgetown
