Judith Burgess posted a condolence

To the family of the late Edith Jahoe: I just found this obituary and wondered if Mrs Jagoe could be the same lady who stayed with my parents in Fairview, during a missionary convention in the early 1960s. Their son had just been married a few short months before. My father, Victor Stevens, along with Rev W F Rourke, would go deer hunting at the Jagoe camp. My father savored those wonderful times and retold stories to the delight of us all. Rev Rourke was the Pastor of Faith Tabernacle in Halifax and I was a close friend of Joan Rourke. My condolences to your family. Judith Stevens Burgess

Hi. My Mom (Elsie Bunker) and me and my husband, Reverend Tim Long, would like to tell you how lucky we were to have known Mrs. Jagoe. Personally, I have so many fond memories of my Mom and Mrs. Jagoe working in the kitchen at Camp Evangeline. I was one of the few children allowed in while cooking was going on. She always made cooking for a few hundred so easy! The memories of her leadership and companionship has been with me all my life. She was a great encouragement to all the women who knew her and she always took time to care about those who needed to know the Lord. Julie Long

So saddened to learn of Edith (Dee Dee’s) passing. We will miss our visits with her and having a meal together. She was certainly a hard working dedicated wife, mother, Pastor’s wife that gave much of herself while helping others learn to be independent. Lloyd always refers to her as his “second mother “ as she and Eldon took him under their wings when he was a young man attending church in Glace Bay and had a big influence on his Christian views. She was a terrific cook/baker and many enjoyed her delicious meals at Camp Evangeline where Irene quickly learned to respond to her commands while working in the kitchen in her teen years. We both have a very high regard and tremendous amount of respect for the strong woman she was. Our sympathies are extended to Lloyd, Sharon and her extended family of whom she was fiercely proud. We will make miss her.

So sorry to hear of your Mom’s passing. When we think of her it is with smiles. She worked hard at everything she put her heart to do! Whether it was in ministry in their early days, or cooking at camp or at the Bible College or more recently picking blueberries. She left her mark here on earth and heaven is now “Home!” The hope of her Faith in Christ Jesus is noe reality. Praying for you.

After my grandmother’s death, Aunt DeeDee was always there, to send me cookie care packages and to visit with when I came home to visit. She always was up for a good story and a laugh. I baked her ginger molasses cookies today in her memory.
My thoughts are prayers are with the rest our family. She was so proud of her family, and talked about all of you every time I visited.
