Obituary of Irving Allen McWhinnie

McWhinnie, Irving Allen, - 78, of Port Wade.  With deep sadness we announce the passing of Irving McWhinnie on March 5, 2018, in Annapolis Community Health Centre.  Born in Annapolis Royal on March 24, 1939, he was the adopted son of Muriel (Snow) and Clifford McWhinnie.  He is survived by his wife, Madeline (Christiansen); children, Charles (Valarie), Victoria Beach; Debora, Port Wade; Allen (Vikki), Bridgewater and Mary (Tom), Kingston; 13 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; sisters, Marina, Carol, and Claudine; brothers, Ralph, Harold, Jarvis, Bob, Raymond and Wilford.  He was predeceased by sister, Pat.  For 38 years, Irving enjoyed working for Parks Canada, Port Royal Habitation and Fort Anne; for many seasons he picked blueberries in Cumberland County.  He volunteered with Digby Ground Search and Rescue for 45 years; was a member of Full Gospel Tabernacle, Lequille where he loved to play drums and sing; also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 21. Irving loved to travel, adventures, meeting new and old friends and seeing new places.  In in his younger years he enjoyed dancing. Irving loved his family and pets.  Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Annapolis Royal. Following Irving’s wishes there will be no visitation.  A funeral service will be held 1:00pm Friday, March 9, in Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Annapolis Royal with Rev. Herb Townsend officiating.  Burial will follow in Port Wade Cemetery.
