Obituary of Verna Marie MacDougall

MacDougall, Verna Marie - Aged 81, passed away peacefully in her home on the 14th February, 2018. Born in Canso, NS to Robert & Effie (Murphy) MacNeil, she was the second oldest of 8 children. Verna grew up in a military family, helping raise her younger siblings. As a young lady she attended Miss Murphy’s Business School until becoming a wife and mother. Verna was a beautiful painter and talented artisan, running the ceramic shop and jewelry making classes at CFB Sydney in Cape Breton. She loved bird watching, gardening and enjoyed her cup of tea. She was a devoted Catholic and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

She is survived by her husband, Frank MacDougall; children, Todd (Faye), Colleen (Paul), Christine (Errol); sow-in law, Wayne Southern; grandchildren, Shane (Kendra), Leah (Mike), Patrick (Julia), Meagan (Cody), Paige & Callum; great grandchildren, Ryann and Clementine. Also survived by brothers, Gerald (Shirley), Tommy (Betty), Malcom (Jinette), Bobby, Danny; many loving nieces and nephews.

Verna was predeceased and greeted in heaven by her mother and father; sisters, Roberta and Georgina; son, Andrew.

Cremation has taking place under the care and direction of the Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Annapolis Royal. A Celebration of Verna's Life will be held on Saturday February 24, 2018 from 1-4 p.m. at Verna's home, 260 Old Highway #8, Lequille. Donations in memory may be sent to VON. A special Thank You to the ladies of VON, your care was second to none. Robin Denton, for everything you did to make everyone’s life better. Dr. Buchholz, they broke the mould after they made you.
