James Dean posted a condolence
Saturday, December 29, 2018
This is James Dean, in Sebring, Florida. I was the Engineer of the Harry W Adams, trained by Captain Vint, and hired by him in Ft. Lauderdale, after my skills were needed removing a head and doing a valve job in rolling seas, between Newport and Florida, on the Fairbanks Morse engine. I was there when John Mosele replaced Vint with a Captain who did not see a 600 foot oil tanker on a clear day, without a cloud in the sky. He absolutely could not drink and steer, and had a half bottle of champagne. That captain who replaced Vint's greatest skill seemed to be testifying in Admiralty Court, where he swore in court we were under sail, when we were under power. John Mosele made a grave mistake, replacing Vint I stayed on after everyone left, then sailed on a sloop through the Out Islands., after pay from John Mosele stopped. I am writing a book on this, and planned to send Vint a first draft to review, until I sadly found this online. A wonderful Captain and teacher has been lost. Please contact me, I would like to use a copy of his painting in the book.
Thank you, James Dean 954 524 7278

Our heartfelt sympathy for the loss of such a unique, inspiring, and proud man. Vinton became part of so many of our lives with his passion and vigour for life. He was truely dedicated and devoted to those around him and never stopped sharing his life with others. He will be missed but will always remain in our heart and soul.

So sad to hear of the passing of Vint. While we were in the small engine business , Vint patronized us immensely. Always a smile and a "hi" when meeting up with him in later years. We were very fond of Vint. and know he will be surely missed. Condolences to his loved ones , Soar high Vint , rest easy .

Cindy Sue,
We can't begin to tell you how sorry we are to hear this. Our hearts hurt for you. We only met him twice but he was amazing - so friendly, so welcoming, he fit right in with MacDonald's.
Thinking of you and sending our love.

I met Vinton a few years ago, my father and I drove to Bridgetown so I could meet him and my dad could visit with him. I have been exporting cars since 2010 and he was a legend of sorts for the work he did with Automotive Innovations. It was great to meet him and I am sorry I never got to know him better. He had a great reputation in the car business. I am so sorry to hear about his passing and wish his family peace during this difficult time.
