Obituary of Leah Leola Butler

~~Butler, Leah Leola (Turbitt)-The family mourns the passing of an exceptional Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, and Great –great grandmother, a true family Matriarch, on Oct. 7, 2017 at her residence Annapolis Royal Nursing Home, Florence Wolfe Wing. Leah was born in 1925 in Great Village, NS to William and Queenie (Brown) Turbitt (both deceased). She married Perry Archibald Butler in 1942. They moved about for Perry’s work settling in Granville Ferry, where they lived until his passing in 2009.
She leaves behind children: Perry A. Jr. (Joyce Spurr); Charles (Dorothy Anne Spurr), their children Pam (Ross Anderson) and Chris (Amanda Shea) and Megan; William (Donna Lee Henderson) , their children Lloyd (Lois Brittain) and Daniel and Lily; Beverly        (John-Paul LaFlamme) and Jocelyn and Larissa; April ( Don Boudreau) and Gabriel, Charles and George; Donna-Lou (Gordon Spurr), their children Kim (Bruce Fraser) and Anna (David Barkhouse) and Ava and Cody; Patricia; Sarah (Larry Hudson), their family Lisa and Leanne; Randy Milne and Aiden and Remington; foster sons Jack Crouse and Brian Sibbins and their families. Also surviving Leah are sisters: Pirl Walker and Marilyn Levesque and sister-in-law Ellie Turbitt and their families. She was predeceased by her husband Perry, children: Gordon and Edward and grandchildren Lee Hudson and Terry (Hudson) Milne; step mother Charlotte Turbitt; brothers: Thomas Aden, Gerald, William in infancy; sister Gladys (Turbitt) Halliday.
Leah enjoyed camping with Perry and a group of ‘camping buddies’ for many years; playing cards with family and friends; sewing and crocheting for family. She encouraged her children and grandchildren to get an education and to work for what they wanted. She was very proud of all their achievements. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her. Visitation will be held Tuesday Oct. 10, 2017 from 7-9 p.m. and funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday both from the Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Annapolis Royal with Rev. Juanita Barteaux officiating. A reception will follow in the funeral home and interment will be in Stoney Beach Cemetery.  The family would like to thank the Staff at the Annapolis Royal Nursing Home for their diligent care and support of Leah over her stay at the Unit.
