Obituary of Laverta Sadie Rice

Rice, Laverta Sadie 97 of Halifax formerly of Litchfield, Annapolis Co. passed away September 23, 2017 in Northwood Manor. Born in Litchfield she was a daughter of the late Hamford and Bessie (Milbury) Burnie. She loved Flea Marketing and knitting, but most important she loved her family dearly. She was a Past Noble grand of the Rebekah Lodge, Bear River, Past President of the Ladies Auxiliary Royal Canadian Legion, Bear River Branch, former member of the Bear River Baptist Church. She is survived by her son, Mark Leslie (Glenda) Rice of Middle Sackville; grandsons, Shane Edward Rice, Mark Joseph (Amanda), Leslie Neil (Sherri); great grandchildren, Logan, Brianna Alexa and Savannah; brother, Raymond Burnie
She was predeceased by her husband Arnold Joseph Rice, brothers Gerald Burnie and Teddy Burnie. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of the Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Annapolis Royal. Graveside committal will be held 4:00 p.m. Sunday in the Litchfield-Delaps Cove Cemetery.
