Obituary of Peter Harry Brown

Brown, Peter Harry – 88, of Lunenburg formerly of South Milford. Born, January 30, 1929. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a husband, father, grandfather, brother. Peter passed away on June 18, 2017, in the Veterans Unit at Fisherman’s Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg. He was the son of the late Captain W.E. and Elsie (Canning) Brown. Born in Clementsport, in his early years, resided in Kentville, where he enjoyed many years playing hockey. In the 1940’s also played hockey for the Annapolis Tigers. In 1951, Peter joined the military. During his military career, he resided in Halifax, Montreal, Ottawa, Germany, and Korea, where he was a member of the Canadian Army Postal Corp. Upon leaving the military, Peter worked for Canada Post, and retiring after 32 years. His retirement years were spent in his beloved home in South Milford, where he enjoyed fishing, hunting and walking. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Ann (Potter) Brown; his daughters, Eleanor (Mike) Shunamon, Beaverbank, Kristen (Ron) LeRue,  Kimberley (Jim) Walters, both of Cole Harbour; nine grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; sister, Jean (Vince) Schoenrank, Deep Brook; several nieces and nephews; daughter in law, Cheryl Brown, Darmouth. Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his son, Michael; sister, Alma Hall; brothers, Stanley, James and William (Infancy). Many thanks to the Veterans Unit at Fisherman’s Memorial Hospital for the wonderful care they showed Peter over the years. Special thanks to Claire and Cecila for always being there. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of the Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Annapolis Royal. A legion service will take place at 11 am, Thursday June 22, followed by a funeral service, both from the Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Annapolis Royal, with Rev. Tory Byrne officiating. Burial will take place in the Old St. Edwards Cemetery, Clementsport. Family flowers only. Reception immediately following the service in the reception room of the funeral home.
