I am saddened to hear of Ian's passing...we had great times during my years in Nunavut. He was always willing to fight for a cause, push us to do a better job, offer me another cup of really bad office coffee and wonder where his briefing binder was hiding on his desk. He will be missed...and I send my sincere condolences to his friends and family.

To Ian's Family & Friends; At 13, Ian was my first "older" guy crush, after his first visit home, from college, with my brother. I'm sure that all of his friends are secure in the knowledge that Ian & Vernon are once again, conspiring together! As much as we miss them, it was wonderful to have them for the years that we did.

We met and knew Ian in Iqaluit, working with him in different capacities. Ian was always cheery and ready to share a good story. I appreciated how Ian treated others with respect and dignity, even when disagreeing on a topic. I knew we had an especially good working relationship when he told me where to go once, but with a twinkle in his eye. We will miss Ian and send our condolences to the kids, for whom his voice always softened a bit when asked how you were doing. Sincerely, Neil

I am so very sad to hear about Ian's passing. I worked for him just about a year or so before he retired. He was a such a nice man with a good sense of humour. My sincere condolences to his family - he will be missed, and not forgotten.

I was fortunate enough to meet Ian while living in Igloolik and working for Nunavut Arctic College and his love for the arctic was obvious in everything he did. R.I.P. Ian.
