Dear Sarah and Andrew B.
Will not soon forget your mum; those amazing gardens, stunning rugs, pottery, tea, homemade bread that made the best toast, beeping when passing other drivers on the road, buying Sarah and I twin outfits for day camp, yelling up to the attic to stop fighting over barbies and that laugh...a long wonderful life. You both were her joy and your children her treasures.
May she rest in peace.
My love and hugs.

Dear Andrew and Sarah,
Ruby and I were saddened when we heard the news via Robert. Our thoughts are with you and your families in this difficult time. I first met your mum in 1968 during a visit to Annapolis after taking the ferry from Saint John, where I met your dad when we were refitting the DDHs.I will always remember Hazel as an optimistic talented person who lived life to the full throughout her busy life. She always made us feel at home during our visits after we moved to Halifax.
We send our sincere commiserations and wish you and your families all the very best for the future.

Although I didn't know Hazel Bryan personally it certainly appears that Hers was a life well lived. Tim Perrott tells me she was his aunt so she would have been related to my late husband Glenn Perrott, son of Henry George Perrott. To her family and friends I am very sorry for your loss, may her soul rest in peace.

A wonderful lady, teacher and artisan. Remember meeting with your mom and dad many years ago, and hearing their amazing story of life during the Second World War, as well as at the Log Cabin watching pottery emerge from their talented hands. Fond memories also of Mrs. Bryan's Home Ec class at AWEC. Her wit and sense of humour made every class entertaining.
Thinking of you and your families, and sending my sincere condolences,
Brenda

Andrew and Sarah: I am sorry that I am not able to offer my condolences in person but I am unable to make it to the service today as was intended. I have many fond memories of your Mum – specifically from my first day as a tiny 12 year old Army cadet in 1979 when, before I knew what was happening, I was welcomed, hugged, told I was full of potential and whisked off to be fitted for a uniform…all because of when I was asked by Captain Bryan if I wanted to be a cadet, I responded with a timid “yes please”. Every so often you meet someone who truly makes a difference in the lives of many people; this was Hazel Bryan. There are so many wonderful stories and cherished memories that I hope you are able to find some level of comfort knowing that because of the no-nonsense caring of one lady, many young kids from the Annapolis area went on to succeed in life; you should be proud. Rest in peace Mrs Bryan – you’ve done well.

On behalf of the Nova Scotia Army Cadet League, I extend my condolences to Hazel's family and friends. Amongst her many community activities, Hazel threw her support behind the Army cadets in the community. As the first female Commanding Officer of an Army Cadet corps in the province, she had an immeasurable role in mentoring young Canadians and their views on the roles of women in our Canadian society - a considerable legacy that will live long.
Sincerest sympathies,
Marie Leloup

AJ and family,
So sorry to hear of your loss.
Your mothers service to the country is to be commended in particular with her groundbreaking leadership in the Royal Canadian Army Cadet Corp. Leading the way for so many other women in officer and leadership roles of the future. She not only lead the unit but showed them how to take it to the highest level with their achievements. AJ, I see in your career achievements where this comes from.
Our thoughts and prayers are with your mom, you and family at this time.

Andrew and Sarah please accept our condolences. Your mother was very well-liked and respected by many, many people. I owe her a debt of gratitude as she played a major role in shaping me into the person I am today. In 1979 I found myself at an Army Cadet training day by accident. I had no intention of becoming a cadet and simply "tagged along" with a friend who was a cadet. Your mother had me fitted for a uniform right away and I was too polite to say no!
They say that life must be lived forwards but it is only understood when you look back. Such a small thing at the time, however it changed everything for me. A new peer group, responsibility, self-esteem, leadership, teamwork, and all under the care and guidance of your mother. I think it's quite telling that we all called her "Mrs. Bryan" and not "Captain Bryan".
I know looking back that if it wasn't for your mother things would be quite different. I know that there are many more people who will say the same thing. She is the star of many people's fond memories.

Sarah and Andrew - I'm so sorry for your loss. Hazel was so special. I know you don't know me but I knew Hazel as a friend and client. I sent her audio books for many years. I loved her so much. Whenever she called me we would have the most wonderful talks about everything under the sun and about audio books too. Hazel was such an outstanding person and so loving and kind and so real and honest. Every time she called me she made my day - it was like she was a ray of sunshine sent from heaven just for me. So special and so irreplaceable.

Dear Andrew and Family;
I knew Hazel from her time in cadets. She is certainly well remembered for her kindness and guidance by literally hundreds of young Canadians who passed through the RCAC program. I saw her about six months ago when I made a presentation in Kentville about the history of the West Nova Scotia Regiment.
Hazel, thank you for your service to Valley youth and to your country. Rest in Peace.

We were a lucky family to have her spunky life to share. She was a special kind of lady, full of the most amazing stories of history and fun. She lived in a fascinating time seeing so many changes which she took in her stride and made the best of what came. I was a luck lady to marry into this fantastic family. My trips to Nova Scotia will not be the same without her there to great me.

My sincerest condolences to Sarah and Andrew and their families.
I have wonderful fond memories of Hazel and our Christmases spent together. She was my adopted family, and was a true gem.
She had a sense of humour and a joie de vivre second to none.
One of my favourite Hazel-isms is the fact that she called herself ' the original. Granville Hooker '! ( Her wonderful, saucy , kind of tongue in cheek humour...Referring ofcourse to the fact that she rug hooked)
Hazel, I know my life was made that much better for having you be a part of it.
