Rick, Brenda and all your family members. Your mom sounded like an amazing woman. I only ever had the pleasure of meeting your dad, and he is an amazing guy!! I know that your mom was amazing from all that has been said, remember she now lives in all of you, continue to live with the energy and love for all she did and she will always be watching over all of you!
Take good care of each other.
Super big hugs from all of us in Ottawa!!
Love
LA, Bevin Hannah and Jared

It was with shock and great sadness that we learned of Velma's unexpected passing; what a wonderful woman and such a privilege to know! We always look forward to Velma and Bruce's arrival in Brighton, for however long they could stay with Mom and Dad -knowing that we would enjoy laughter and a good visit or two while they were here. Our two children, Daniel and Natalia, were the recipients of many kindnesses from them... and both of them continue to enjoy the products of Velma's knitting, to keep their toes warm! Daniel wants me to pass along how sad he is about Velma's death: "She's always so sparkly and fun, Mom!" Big hugs to Bruce and the rest of the Keevill clan. We shall miss her dearly, but we're all the better for having known her.

It is with abundant sadness that I send my most sincere sympathy to each of you on Velma's death.
I first met Velma in 1955 at Loretto Abbey Toronto. That September, we began our one year stint as boarders in Grade 13.
There were 6 of us and we became close. We managed to get through the year with much fun, laughter, mischievous adventures and supporting each other in difficult times.
Velma's laughter and twinkling eyes are treasures to remember.
I will cherish the memories of her friendship and her caring ways. She will be missed by her family and friends beyond measure.
Rest in Peace Velma.
Love and prayers,
Angela Rothwell Kitchener, On.

Dear Bruce, Brian, Brenda, Chris, Robert and families,
We are very sad to hear of Velma's passing. We offer our prayers and thoughts, as you find a way to move on, without her at your side. She will be with you always, but it will be very hard to understand how she will not be physically right there with you. You were always busy travelling, canoeing and kayaking, visiting, and caring for others. This was how Velma led her life and now you must carry on her mission.
As a school friend of Louann Miller, Velma became a second mother to all of the Miller children and, in turn all of the Walsh family.I remember childhood trips to your home in Waverley and more recent trips to Annapolis Royal. She always made sure we were eating well, sleeping well and resting well. Our children remember mussels at the pub and fabulous hospitality. And yet, Velma never let us get away with anything! I remember being told to get down to the lobster dock and order supper. At my brother, Chris's wedding, she demanded that Chris get up and ask our mother for a dance. There was no room for if's or but's! Velma shared all of our family's celebrations with my parents and we loved sharing our immediate family with her. We will miss her visits to Kitchener, her updates to the Miller family and knowing we were always welcome in Nova Scotia.
We cannot begin to imagine a life without Velma. We send the love and prayers that she always shared with us on to all who will miss her dearly. There is one email that never seems to get deleted out of my inbox. It is one of the many that Velma sent my way. It is called God Whispers. https://www.youtube.com/embed/zf_0jzPQ8lo?rel=0
Last week, God whispered to Velma that he had a job for her in heaven, more important than the job she was doing here on earth. We will have to wait our turn, and until that time, we know that she will continue to watch over us from above. She is with all of you still. God bless.

It was with great shock and sadness that we heard of Velma's passing. Such a great light in so many lives, she was like the sun, always present, and always shining. We will miss her, and we feel blessed to have known her, to have had tea at her kitchen table, and to have shared a few sunsets with her. Life is precious and she always made you feel welcome, like you were a special part of her day when she saw you, she will always be the epitome of graciousness.. We will miss you greatly Velma.

I remember Velma and Bruce visiting in Napanee and the stories of evening card games with Brenda and Rick. Velma always had everything in order and was so proud when Brenda and Rick brought another bundle of joy into their homes, some larger than others, thankfully. I loved Velma's smile and her spunk. We were very happy to see them last June during our Fair visit.
May you all take comfort in your wonderful memories.

Was so sad to hear of Velma's passing. She's been a wonderful friend to our parents, especially Mom -- they met decades ago in Grade 13 at Loretto Abbey!
Velma and Bruce made many pitstops to visit them while on road trips to Ontario and we all looked forward to their visits! There was always lots of laughter when they were around.
I would have liked to come for the memorial mass on Saturday to pay my respects in person but unfortunately am unable to do so. Please know how much she was and is loved by all of us. And Bruce, we look forward to continuing visits with you when you're able to resume them or when any of us are able to get to the east coast.
