Obituary of Vivian St. Cecilia Irving

Irving, Vivian St. Cecelia, 99, of Bridgetown, formerly of Sandy Cove, Digby County, passed way August 11, 2016, in Mountain Lea Lodge, Bridgetown. Born in New Ross, Lunenburg County, she was a daughter of the late Gordon and Edith (McDow) Rafuse. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. For over 60 years, Vivian was a proud charter member of the Order of the Eastern Star, St. Mary’s Chapter #35, Digby, and also a member of the Bridgetown Baptist Church. She had many hobbies such as sewing, knitting and cross stitch, reading, along with all types of sports including both lawn and alley bowling. Her main hobby was gardening which she shared with her late husband Owen. She is survived by her two grandsons, James Durnnian, Dartmouth and Terry Durnnian, Nigeria; great grandson, Sean Durnnian; great granddaughter, Melissa Durnnian; many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband Owen; sons, Kenneth and Donald; daughter, Jeanette Durnnian; grandson, John Durnnian; brothers, Morris, Leo, Clifford and Ralph; sisters, Evelyn Veinotte, Mabel Veinotte, Mildred Blair and Jean Salsman; son-in-law, Earle Durnnian. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of the Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Bridgetown. Visitation will be held Saturday, August 20, in the Bridgetown Baptist Church from 1 P.M.until service time at 2 P.M., beginning with an Order of the Eastern Star service followed by a funeral service with Rev. Brian Wallace officiating. A reception will follow in the church vestry. Our family wishes to give thanks to Jean Beckwith whose lifelong friendship and support was a comfort and strength to Nan. A private interment will take place in Sandy Cove Cemetery, Sandy Cove at a later date. Donations made in memory may be made to charity of choice.
