Obituary of James Frederick Hall

Hall, James Frederick- age 73, of Bridgetown, Annapolis County, passed away September 4, 2015 after a brief illness in Soldiers Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born May 15, 1942, in Middleton, he was the son of the late Frank A. and Thurza (Foster) Hall. Fred graduated from Nova Scotia Normal College class 1961. He taught in Moser River, West Kings and Bridgetown Elementary and High Schools. In later years he owned and operated Hall of Flowers in Bridgetown. Longtime member of the Bridgetown Baptist Church, Fred also served as a choir member, soloist and was a member of the male quartet. He was founder of Son Seeker’s Puppetry, and Chairman of the church decorating committee. Fred was also past member and King Lion of the Bridgetown Lions Club, and a member of the Dukes of Kent. Fred loved working with his hands and created many elegant works of art including cross stitch pieces, macramé, paper quilling and Ukrainian eggs. Survived by brother, Robert (Jean) Hall, West Paradise; sister, Anne (Kip) McCurdy, St. Croix Cove and sister–in-law, Ann (Vernon) Munroe, Parker Mountain Road; nieces and nephews, Chris (Sharon) Hall, Heather (Glenn) Caldwell, Jennifer (Donnie) Chisholm, Wendy (Mike) Fleming, Jay (Stacy) McCurdy, Beth (Andrew) Cranston, Marianne (Michael) Stewart, and Richard (Lily) Hebb, as well as several grand nieces and nephews. Pre-deceased by wife, Joan (Nickerson) Hall – April 17, 2013. Visitation will be held Wednesday September 9, in the Kaulbach Family Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Bridgetown from 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held 3 p.m. Thursday September 10, in the Bridgetown Baptist Church with Rev. Brian Wallace officiating assisted by Rev. Randy Legassie. Burial in St. Croix Cove Cemetery. Memorial donations made in Fred’s Memory may be sent to Bridgetown Baptist Church Memorial Fund or Victorian Order of Nurses, Annapolis Valley Branch. The family wished to express their sincerest thanks to all the caregivers and friends who stayed with Fred at home and the nursing staff at Soldiers Memorial Hospital.
